In this case, the service outweighed anything that wasn't perfect about my stay here. From the moment you enter the building until you leave, your interaction with the staff is very professional and positive. The workout facility, steam room, spa, etc.was an unexpected perk compared to the nearby Marriott and Hilton. Can't wait to stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a good view, mine was awesome and I didn't have a fancy room.

The Loews is well-located near city hall, the convention center, and the market and has plenty of dining options around. From it you could easily walk to the historical sites in downtown. On higher floors you can get great views, as it is taller than the buildings around it. In addition, the building has a long history and when the hotel purchased the property, they made an obvious effort to maintain much of the original building's marble and architecture.

On the positive side, rooms are not as small as some other hotels in the city and have been recently updated so they are very clean and modern. Despite it's height, elevators arrived fairly quickly even to the 30th floor where I stayed. The hotel staff was very helpful with anything I asked about, and by joining their rewards program for free they will remove any internet charges from your bill.

On the negative side, I had two issues that leave me baffled as to why they would not be corrected. The first is that my room door had about a one inch gap (during the day you could see the light shining into the hallway from underneath my door) so sounds traveled very easily into the room and other doors opening and closing woke me up a couple of times. I noticed other doors with the same issue so I know it is not just my room, and a simple draft guard would likely block most of the noise. The second is that the toilet paper used is really thin, flimsy one-ply stuff like you might find in a stadium or airport. If these issues had not existed, I'd be giving the hotel five stars.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a good view, and paying for the club floors gets you free breakfast in a quiet, h...

It is a little disconcerting when you realize the hotel is a former office skyscraper. But I can honestly say that every single employee we encountered was sweet as can be, and especially cheery and fun with my two kids. The room was nice, and we lucked out with a spectacular view of the city hall. We never made it to the pool because we were too busy running around the historic sites; we also did the long walk to Jim's Steaks on South Street. I do want to praise the hotel's restaurant, Solefood; we had a great lunch there, again with great service from the staff. If you're traveling with kids, you're definitely welcome anywhere in this place.

Room Tip: There are club floors that get you access to a breakfast spread

In spite of the weird entry situation, the hotel is attractive. It used to be a bank and has retained some of the architecture in an updated format. Rooms were spacious with the usual amenities. Like many hotels, had the ipod clock radio which seems to do everything except set the alarm (function was broken). TV remote and one phone needed new batteries. Was expensive the week I was there but slightly less than comparable properties. Parking is $36 (or $30 with package).

Internet hiccuped a few times and lost connection, but otherwise OK.

This was my second trip to the Lowes in 4 months. Although it was not quite up to the first trip, it is still a gas of a hotel. Having been there before helped with the valet parking, which is located around the corner from the main entrance. The staff there was polite and friendly. My car was ready before I got down there each of the 3 times we needed it. We spent happy hour in the lounge and were delighted by the drink and food specials. A great place to hang out for an hour or two. We also had breakfast in the hotel. Great atmosphere, very pleasant and attentive staff, and very good food at an acceptable price (I also bought a breakfast package w/ the room - saved about $10).

One snag on this trip: I had reserved a corner room and was given a regular room on the concierge floor. This was correctly quickly and without issue. I highly recommend reserving one of the corner rooms. In fact, it is those rooms that make the experience. They are amazing! I would not have the same degree of enthusiasm about the hotel if I had not stayed in a corner room on both trips. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: By all means reserve one of the corner rooms or suites. Worth every penny difference between a stand...
