“Excellent service even in a poor season”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

We got a great deal on this property for a recent trip to celebrate my birthday. The room and view were terrific and the service was excellent. Cakes and hot chocolate for when you're done skiing and a ski valet for your skis and boots. Despite the lack of snow, the resort was still very skiable.

Room Tip: If your in the condos, get a room on the third floor if you don't want people above you.

Mammoth Mountain in is in an AWESOME location right on the slope. The staff was friendly. We upgraded to a deluxe room which was nice and clean, but with a very small bathroom. We got a pretty good deal which included breakfast. The breakfast was unbearably disgusting. Not many people were eating at the breakfast buffet and that meant that the food was not fresh at all. In fact on the last day we chose to eat somewhere else rather than eat the included breakfast because it was so bad I wouldn't even eat it for free. We also went to the resturant inside for dinner one night. Never again. My husband ordered the porterhouse, which turned out to actually be a pork porterhouse. We asked the waiter several times if it were a steak, to which he responded yes. It was a great location and a decent hotel, just don't eat there!

Room Tip: Upgrade to deluxe

The saving grace of this inn is its location. This is a dated facility with the only things that seem to be up graded are the TV's and the bedding. With few exceptions, staff does not seem to be tuned in to customer service. Stay in the main building. The other two buildings are converted employee dorms/apartments, with very small bathrooms and a hodgepodge of room shapes, sizes and types. We had to have furniture and lamps moved in as well as five burned out light bulbs replaced.

If you are not satisfied with your room, go back to the front desk immediately and insist on another one.

I spend over 50 nights a year here and it is so worth being in this location. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The buildings are older but that is the charm of the place. Where else can you go and step out your door and have the best skiing and mountain biking I have ever experienced. It is great for families and this is our prime vacation spot! The staff make the experience very enjoyable!

If you book the promo, you will get a room that has decent bedding and overall nice features. The employees don't seem to have any hotel industry training, so don't expect major service, which is fine in a mountain town, but they were rude and not that cool, the front desk chick was eating cereal and the store chick was not friendly either. The room had a light bulb out and the heater was very old underneath a desk, so kind of hard to dry your boots and gloves, but used the laundry room dryer in the parking garage for a 1.00. The 20 addtl resort fee is lame considering every other hotel offers the same amenities, but the ski check in the lobby was useful and the free dvds were cool and parking is covered. The yodler had a new menu that was tasty and the building is from switzerland and pretty cool if you like zermatt. There is no party up there, but its good if you just want to go to bed early and get fresh pow and you dont have to fight for parking every morning and your room is right there if you want make your own lunch or try the wiener wrap or ham and cheese croissant from the hotel store, cheaper than the main lodge. Prob will stay there again if its dumping.

Room Tip: Room was 3rd floor over parking garage, has elevator. never heard any neighbor noise, view was facin...
