A great paved bike path connecting Ventura to Ojai. Many access points - we like to park under the freeway overpass near Foster Park (free parking) just north of Ventura, and ride up to Ojai. That section is more scenic than the part that goes through Ventura. Lovely views of the Ventura River Valley and nice native habitat along much of the trail from Foster Park. Dirt horse trail runs alongside the bike trail at the Ojai end. The trail goes right past the Oak View Community Center, so that's another convenient place to park.

This is a great ride, but you should have a decent bike if you plan to ride all the way to Ojai. There are some nice views. It’s much harder riding to Ojai, then riding to Ventura. If you really want an easy ride start in Ojai and ride down to Ventura, just make sure you have someone to pick you up when you get to the bottom! My friends and I like to ride to Ojai and treat ourselves with a bite to eat! It’s not crowded at all during the week. Definitely a fun day.

I cycled this path from Ventura to Ojai, then rode all over Ojai and then cycled back to Ventura.. This path is well maintained, and so much to see. Little towns like Casitas Springs, Oak View and old ventura oil fields.. It is peaceful, shaded, so many trees, flowers, parts of history along the way. grab a bike, and check it out..

This is a really nice, safe bike trail. It’s completely separated from traffic, completely paved. It starts down in Ventura and ends up in Ojai. It’s a rails to trails route that follows 90+% of an old railway. Down in Ventura it passes behind some industries and then goes through an old and removed refinery. All that’s left are 2 sphere tanks and concrete footings from equipment. It then winds up the hills, crosses 2 bridges and has some really nice views farther up. The trail is fairly easy but it is uphill at about 2% grade (remember it was once a railway). We have lunch or late breakfast up in Ojai and then ride back. It’s easier to return to Ventura but you’re still pedaling. I park a few blocks from the start of the trail at a park called West Park, 450 West Harrison Ave Ventura 3001. It’s a safe spot and there’s bathrooms. Bring water as Ojai is warmer than Ventura and if you ride the whole trail it’s about a 14 mile trip each way, very doable just take some time and enjoy the ride.

Been riding this upper path for 20+ years and and the lower path (ventura to Foster park) since it was opened. Upper path is near impossible to ride from the tree roots lifting the asphalt and making it a washboard surface. Parts of the path in lower ojai are cracked and the splits can lock your tires if you are not careful. Overall the path is very pleasant and beautiful scenery and vistas. Vent to foster Good beginner path as it is very flat.

I’ve ridden this trail numerous times. It’s a very pleasant half-day or longer bike ride. The section that runs through Ojai is particularly pretty and tree-lined, and of course, Ojai is a wonderful artsy destination town. It’s not a “hidden” country trail; for most of the trail, you are paralleling the main Ojai-to-Ventura road, so traffic is always within eye-shot or earshot, but it’s low-level, low-speed traffic and the trail’s flora form a nice barrier. Definitely worth doing a few times

We take this trail often and it's a safe and healthy alternative route to get to Ojai! As well as getting around Ojai!

Always a pretty walk! Even when there's no water in the "river" it's still interesting. You never know what sorts of "creatures" might be seen!!
