There isn't much to see here, the town is completely gone, except for a few foundations and an old iron smelting kiln. Too bad, because this was an important place in the history of Iron County.
If you are traveling down Hwy 56 it is worth a 10 minute stop, but it is not worth going out of your way for.

A perfect spot for a short interesting walk. My boyfriend and I had it all to ourselves the day we went.

This place really has very limited ruins representation! The museum is small and has mostly photos and some artifacts... They offer tour included into ticket price and we joined it but ... didn't finish. The photography is limited - not much to see nor photograph. We would skip this place if knew in advance such details...

We were in Cedar City for a Shakespeare Festival performance and we had some time on our hands to do some exploring. Old Irontown Ruins showed on a “local” attractions map we picked up at the hotel. Rightfully so, Old Irontown is shown on Highway 56.

I’d think twice about driving from Cedar City as the round trip is roughly 45 miles. The highway is scenic and well maintained. For us that was the good part.

There is very little to see at the site. Basically there is a beehive shaped kiln that you can walk into. The construction is marginally interesting, then there is the remains of a chimney, there are some blocks that appear to be a part of a building with no explanation whatsoever. In a nutshell that is the extent. No visitor center and little information. There are decent pit toilet restrooms.

Our opinion is save the time and gas for something else.
