The hotel has a great location. Room had 2 twins and we could see the Carnegie Deli from our window. We had to raise the window (would only open 2 inches or so) because of heat from the heating system. Street noise is terrible. Take a "white noise" machine if you can.

Staff etc. were great. Helpful. I would definitely stay again--however would probably pay extra for a room away from street noise. In 2010 stayed in a suite and had absoutely no noise at all.

Heating pipes bang at night, but is tolerable, compared to street noise.

Great location...less than 10 min walk to Central Park, and less than 15 min walk to Times square!......subway entrance right outside the 55th street door.
Room was small even by British standards! could have done with an update (paint, carpets, wallpaper etc) but it was comfortable, and after a god day's sightseeing all you want is sleep anyway...would stay there again but i would ask to look at other rooms that were available.

Room Tip: We were on the 8th floor...lift's (there are 3) in the morning between 08:00 - 09:00 are very bu...

Stayed in the Wellington Hotel 22/03/12 for four nights.Agree with all the positive points from previous reviews, great location, very clean etc.Nothing negative to say about this hotel.
Found the Blue hop-on hop-off tour bus great value for money, especially the Uptown and Downtown loop to give your weary feet a well deserved rest.
If you want to try something different food wise in NY,give TOPAZ thai cuisine a visit just round the corner from the hotel on 56th street,between6th and 7th Ave.great food and very reasonably priced, followed by a cocktail at Le Parker Meridien Hotel on W 57th Ave(opp Topaz),
very relaxing atmosphere after visiting Times Square.

Stayed at the Wellington Hotel March 2012 for three nights with friends. First impression of this Hotel very busy, great location, thought the decor a little dated.
This Hotel is great for a short break, rooms very comfortable, we were upgraded from a Standard room, and to be honest it was a good size, but I hate to think how big the standard rooms are. The downside to the room, there were no tea / coffee making facilities , or complimentary water, which I find for the USA quite strange, knowing how much they enjoy their coffee.
Location wise you couldn't have picked a better choice, as you came out the Hotel, turn left for Times Square, turn right for Central Park, everything was in easy reach on foot.
The Staff very friendly and eager to please, so don't be afraid to ask if something is not to your liking.
The Coffee Shop attached to the Hotel, is very welcoming, very busy, but if you are prepared for a short wait for a table , you will not be dissappointed in the service, very quick once you are seated, and very nice.
All in all a very enjoyable stay, our only regret is that is wasn't for longer, no doubt we will be back.

Room Tip: Ask to be upgraded from a Standard room to a delux double.

Stayed here for 4 nights in March, with my 2 friends, and had a fantastic time. Previous reviews highlight the hotel's location as a plus point - and you won't be disappointed. You can walk to most tourist locations and jump on the subway for those furtherafield. Highlights on foot: central park, times square, MoMA, Lincoln Centre, 5th Avenue, Top of the Rock (at night) & Grand Central Station. By subway: Statten Island Ferry - wave to the Statue of Liberty, wander around Greenwich Village, pay respects at Ground Zero, buy Broadway tickets at South Street Seaport (smaller queues than Times Square). Eating out - so much choice. Breakfast at Cafe Metro (across the road and up towards Central Park) - frequented by local New Yorkers and tourists. Dinner - would recommend Basso56 on 234 West, 56th Street (between 7th and 8th Ave, minutes from hotel) - stumbled across this fantastic Italian and enjoyed 2 great meals. Cocktails - rooftop bar at the Empire Hotel (as seen in SATC and Gossip Girl!!). And if you really want to spoil yourself - a wee trip to Tiffany's 5th Ave is a must. I can't wait to come back. Thank you Wellington Hotel for a great room and location.
