We went to NYC to celebrate a special occasion and The Lowell did everything they could to make it memorable. A welecoming cake with bubbly and attentive, and friendly staff made us feel very welcome. We usually stay in Soho but really enjoyed being by the park this time.

We have been staying at this hotel for more then 16 years. It is a very special place unlike your typical big city hotel experience. Imagine staying at your rich uncle’s flat in London or Paris, and being considered part of the family! Great part of town with a hand picked first rate staff that treats you like royalty. Charming, old world, but up to date in all important ways...especially the lobby and lounge renovations, absolute home run inadding to the character and comfort of the place. We look forward to many more getaways to this lovely hotel, cheers!

My wife and I stay at The Lowell whenever we are in New York. It has been our favorite hotel for at least the past 10 years. We were just there from for five nights in December, and had reserved a Deluxe Junior Suite which according to pictures on The Lowell website and accompanying floor plan is appointed with a sofa, fabric chairs, coffee table, desk, some with terraces, etc. We have stayed in these lovely, spacious suites on previous occasions.

We were therefore surprised when we were escorted to 12C. While it has a fireplace, there is no true seating area but only one fabric arm chair and one desk with two side chairs. We then asked to be moved to another suite and were told in the entire hotel only 12D was available. It appeared larger with definitely more closet space which we needed; however, it also had only one fabric arm chair, a desk and its requisite two chairs. Since this was the only other option, we accepted the room, which by the way should be refreshed (frayed drapes, wallcovering with visible and multiple black marks, scarred furniture).

We love The Lowell and its wonderfully attentive staff and assumed that because we were loyal guests and had reserved a Deluxe Junior Suite, our accommodations would meet or perhaps even exceed our expectations. Unfortunately this was not the case. We are quick to praise the hotel; however, this is first time we have no choice but to express our heartfelt disappointment.

I would be remiss if I did not mention that during our stay cold air was escaping from one of the heating units at the far end of the Pembroke Room. We and other guests at breakfast had to move to the middle of the room or next to an inside wall for warmth. The problem should have been remedied immediately but the situation continued all the mornings we were there.

We have stayed at the Lowell 2 or 3 times before. Nice, small boutique hotel. They recently opened a new restaurant, new, small bar and a beautiful club room 3 years after they closed the Post House. We were told they spent 25 million on the construction and decor. All 3 rooms are beautiful.
Then it ends. We booked a 1 bedroom suite which, on line, shows the layout which include 2 sinks in the bathroom. A lie! We only had 1 small sink. Plus room is tired, poor decor- a disappointment and not as nice as Peninsula. Then we had coffee in afternoon in Club room, delightful except poor service since no one stayed in the room enough though it has a small service bar- had to go to front desk who called on phone to find someone.
The club room and bar say they stay open till midnight. My wife and I left our dinner at AI Fiori to comeback for a nightcap. We arrived back at 10:40- everything closed. The front desk person told us they closed early because of the snow. Well, what about your hotel guests who are paying $1,000 a night or more. Guess they do not care about their guests.
We are here for 3 more nights but would leave if it was not a hassle to move.
With so many wonderful hotels in Manhattan I would consider others before Lowell.

The Lowell is a very special hotel in New York. The experience is more like being welcomed into a wonderful boutique "home away from home". Everything is done with a "touch of class" and extremely comfortable and so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for guests at The Lowell. Just perfect.
