I stayed with my wife there for new year's eve (Dec. 29 to Jan. 1). We both were kind of concerned because we didn't know how the infrastructure would be, but even that some services are still unavailable, the infrastructure is in very good shape, this hotel took a big hit with Sandy but they've been working very hard so we customers can have a warm and comfortable stay.

We had a small humidity issue with my room, they changed us inmediately to a suite, we even got some free chocolates, bottled water, and a small but honest "we're sorry" note on our king bed when we got back to the room that night. And if that wasn't much, they credited 10 thousand points to my Rewards account!

The location is great, not loud at all, just in front of Hudson's river, we could see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty from our room.

The staff service was really great too, from check-in to check-out.

Room tip: High corner rooms have a great view of the buildings, river and islands.

We staid there over Christmas ( 24 - 29) and the hotel is still in recovery phase. When I called there was a tape explaining the situation and promising to call back within 15 minutes. Internet service is spotty but free everywhere in the hotel. The restaurants are still closed but they offer a simple breakfast (bagels, muffins, croissants) for free.
Our bedroom (902) was spacious with two queen beds. Coffee maker, ironing board and safe were in-room. There was not much room to store clothes for two [people, especially as it was winter (3 drawers, one small closet).
The bathroom was small and did not have much space to put things. There was just one (!) hook to put things and that was occupied by the hairdryer. Management should b more considerate and offer a rack or at least some additional hooks.
The gym on the 5th floor is well equipped with cardiovasculars (6 tread mills, 3 bikes, 2 each of ellipticals and stepmaster) and also has some heavy equipment plus the usual array of barbells.
Staff was friendly throughout our stay and displayed a positive attitude despite the difficulties. That's the spirit!

Room tip: ask for a room not facing West St (traffic)

Despite the after effects of Hurricane Sandy (restaurant was still closed), the stay was pleasant, the staff helpful & friendly. We had a great view from our SW corner room of the NY harbor & West St greenspace.

Room tip: Rooms on the west side have the best views, higher up is best.

Four of us stayed for two nights at this downtown NYC hotel. We are Marriott Platinum members so we only stay in Marriotts. They are still recovering from Hurricane Sandy; no phone service, no kitchen service, etc. We knew this before we booked, so not a problem. We had some minor inconveniences that would have not been a problem had the front desk been responsive, but it took three calls and a request for the manager before I could get an extra bath towel, which then made us miss breakfast in the Members lounge. Our housekeeper was excellent, and when she found out what we had experienced, went out of her way to make sure we had extras of everything that second day. I agree with other reviewers that the rooms were well sized for Manhattan, and that it is in a great location for visiting the 9/11 Memorial, Battery Park, the Intrepid, and other sites. We were there to see two shows, so took the subway and taxis back and forth up to Times Square. Overall it was a good stay, and I would stay there again, unless the Marriott company decides to let members use their points at other uptown locations.

Room tip: There are rooms with views of one of the 9/11 reflecting pools, and also rooms with a view of the Statue of Liberty.
