Stayed here for 5 nights and have no complaint's. Recieved a warm welcome on check in and found everybody very helpful and friendly. Room was a good size and very clean.Housekeeping were very friendly and very approachable. I booked this stay on Priceline and for the price paid got very good value.
Was able to access nearly everywhere I wanted to visit from nearby subway stations.
Just one thing which was outside the Hotel's control and which they advised me against using was booking SuperShuttle to take me to JFK. The Hotel warned me they might show and sure enough after 3 calls and a 1 and a half hour wait, no show. Again not the Hotel's fault but something to note.

Overall , would definetly recomend the Marriot Downtown.

Expect slightly below average Marriott experience. Property looks new and clean, but maintenance seems a bit sloppy - to be honest, I have a hard time understanding why they would let the painting in the bathroom look so bad. Comfortable bed. No mini-bar service. Even though reception was able to accommodate me earlier, check-in at 4PM and check-out at 11AM is definitely a minus. The placard on the unavailability of public bathrooms that they've placed on the sidewalk is a bit too cheap.

The Downtown New York Marriott is a beautiful property located in the heart of New York's financial district. My junior suite was well appointed, clean, and spacious. The housekeeping service at this Marriott is spectacular. Apart from the actual hotel room and hotel amenities, the rest of my experience lacked anything spectacular. The service, in particular, lack any sort of polish. Listed below are some examples:

- I was offered a room on a high floor with a beautiful view; a supervisor then whispered something to the check in agent and my room on the 21st floor was no longer. It might've had something to do with the fact that I reserved my room through Priceline. Nonetheless, the higher floor was offered, therefore HONOR it. While I was being checked in, another guest was being checked in at the same time and they were given a room on the 21st floor. They were Marriott Rewards members so that explained it all. The front desk agent could tell I was upset and was able to provide me with an upgrade to a junior suite on the 6th floor. Mind you the junior suite is only a tad bit larger than a standard room.

- As a hospitality industry professional, I expect hotel staff (front desk and Concierge) to steer me in the right direction when it comes to dining options. I specifically requested an extremely casual restaurant outside the hotel where I can dine dressed down in my airport wardrobe. I was presented with a pre-printed list of restaurant options, which was great, but was not directed to a casual restaurant. In fact I was repeatedly reminded of the restaurant in the hotel, even after I stated I didn't want to dine there.

- Rude cocktail servers at 85 West on St. Patty's Day.

All in all- I love the layout of the hotel and find it beautiful, but I rather stay try out another property that will hopefully provide better service.

* Above average Marriott experience with decent size rooms for NYC and friendly staff.
* No free WiFi in the rooms is a drawback - but avail in the lobby.
* Restos selection is a sports bar and Starbucks but so much in the hood making it no big issue
* Rooms decently appointed. No robes but coffee maker, electronic hook-ups and clean and modern decor
* Close to most subway lines

Room Tip: We had a river view of Statue of Liberty. Ask for a high floor due to extensive construction in the...
