Guest Experience Team
Everyone was very helpful and went out of their way to be friendly.
Check in was very easy and took the time to meet our requests and needs. Overall we appreciated every aspect of our stay.
We will definitely come back.
I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn down the street, but wanted a view of the Chrysler Building. When I called, I was told I could have a room with a view of the top of the Chrysler Building. After making my reservation, I called the hotel to make sure that my room did have the view. The lady at the front desk REFUSED to help me. When she forwarded my call to the reservation center, they said I needed to speak to the front desk. I told him that they refused to help me. He called they and assured me that I would get the room I wanted. When I arrived, check in was slow and the line long. One group trying to check in was having problems. One person keep talking to the person checking them in, then spent time on the hotel phone, finally someone came down and talked to the lady checking them in. After checking in, they were questioning why it took an hour for them to get checked in. My room did look onto the Chrysler Building, but did not have a view of the top of the building. It did have a view of some of the art nouveau gargoyles some that's better that looking at a blank wall, but was not what I was promised. The room itself is a good size for a New York City hotel and is clean with great bedding. A great pillow is necessary for me to have a good night sleep and those were great pillows. There is a mini fridge but no microwave. I never finish my meal and usually bring the leftovers to reheat for a future meal. I guess the (art?) on the walls is modern, but one picture looked like a rope coiled up and another looked like my 2 year old granddaughter's drawing of eggs. If this is modern, I think blank walls would look better. But the important thing is the bed and cleanliness and those were great.
The day before I was to check out, I asked man at the concierge about the airport shuttle. I was given incomplete information which took me in the opposite direction from where I needed to go. The next day, there was a lady at the concierge. When I asked her, she gave thorough directions and a small map that was stacked in the front of the concierge desk. It was perfect! Took me exactly where I needed to go. When the maps were sitting right there in front of him, why wouldn't the man have handed me the map? What quality service you receive - either HORRIBLE or excellent, no in between - depends on the luck of which employee happens to be working. For this Hyatt to be truly grand, all employees need to be excellent, and certainly the people at the front desk who seemed to work at being difficult instead of helpful need straightening out. As for me, I will go back to the Hilton Garden Inn down the street on future trips.
