We stayed at The Tuscany - St Giles from 31/8 for 10 nights. This hotel is a brilliant location only 2 short blocks from Grand Central Station which from there you can get just about anywhere. Walking distance to Times Square and views of both the Chrysler from the end on the street and the Empire State from our window.
The staff were fantastic and the room was beautiful, with the most comfy bed I have ever slept in in any hotel.
New York was spectacular, everything you see in the movies and more, even thought we ended up with very sore feet from walking most of it, which you can do. I can't recommend this city enough, exciting views, lovely people - everyone we met where kind and helpful. Can't wait to come back and would definitely stay at the Tuscany again. Thanks

We stayed four nights at this hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to a huge room (for any location, let alone for a hotel in a city) with a very comfortable bed and a good shower with nice Molton Brown toiletries- very welcome after a long flight. There were a few other extras which I liked about this hotel- the iron and ironing board in the room, cotton buds, make up remover and dressing gowns. We also loved the location as it was so easy to get around by foot.

The staff were fantastic- they helped us print theatre tickets and arranged a car for us to the airport. They also allowed us to leave our bags in the hotel on the final day of our trip- a service which I understand other hotels charge for. There was a welcome drink at the bar on arrival which was a nice touch. I was also grateful for the free wi-fi- something that seemed hard to come by in other hotels when I researched hotels in New York.

There were a few small teething problems. I would agree with other comments that the walls seemed to be very thin and the noise seemed to come through the doorway into the hall. We could sometimes hear every word spoken by other people in other rooms in the hallway, but this never woke us up in the nights or interrupted our sleep (I have to say that I slept very well every night here). I would also say that although the main lobby area was very smart and well presented, one of the lifts was far below the standard that one would expect from a four star hotel and almost felt a little dangerous to be in with wires in the lift exposed. I imagine this will be put right soon though fairly shortly as I understand the hotel has recently been renovated. One final thing- when my husband was ironing his shirt the water in the iron left brown stains on the shirt as it was dirty. It meant we had to have the shirt dry cleaned.

Despite these minor issues, I felt that our stay was very pleasant and with a few tweaks this hotel could be excellent. As mentioned above,the staff are especially helpful and I could not fault them in any way. I would happily stay here again.

We certainly regret to hear that your stay was disturbed by noise from the hallway, but very glad to hear that you had uninterrupted rest! We are still putting the finishing touches on the Penthouse Suite on the 17th floor, and as soon as those last touches are complete, our second elevator will be returned to its pristine condition; in the meantime it is perfectly safe and inspected for use. We are so sorry that your husband’s shirt was dirtied by the use of the iron in the room. I have forwarded your review to our housekeeping staff and we are working to ensure that every iron is clean and read for guest use daily. Thank you for bringing that to our attention! We stayed 3 days at the hotel and found all the help solved any problems we had. The room was excellant and the service exceptional. WE were there for an Engagement party and the help made sure a Taxi Cab was waiting for us.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are wonderful.

My husband and I had a very comfortable night at The Tuscany despite noise from the hallway coming through the doorway area. Although the doors are quite substantial the gap between the door and the floor seems to provide enough space for noise penetration. I imagine that adding custom thresholds might take care of this problem. Our room was spacious with a walk in closet and separate sitting area with a mirror for women to put on their make up. Service was friendly and prompt. A tea/coffee make was brought up right away and immediate efforts were made to replace the leaky iron in our room, however the replacement iron also leaked. The manager appreciated my bringing this to his attention so perhaps the irons will be replaced with better quality ones. It seems difficult these days to find non-sugary breakfast cereals in hotels as The Tuscany demonstrated. Having a low-fat low-sugar granola option, such as the Get Fit brand, with non-dairy milk options would be a great addition for health conscious people. We liked the hotel and would stay there again.

We stayed at the Tuscany for the first time over Labor day week-end. We thought it was great. We had a special deal on the price which certainly helped but, we would have enjoyed it at full price. The room was large with a lovely view of the Empire State Building and downtown. The windows opened wide for fresh air. The location is great. Close to Grand Central and more.
We'd recommend it heartily.
