BEST WESTERN PLUS Seaport Inn Downtown
Ranked #285 of 471 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed 28 March 2012

I really liked the Best Western near the seaport. It was a little difficult to find, but it's surrounded by small sea-side shops with cobble stone roads. The hotel has a Circa 1930's feel to it and I was surprised by the size of the rooms for a NYC hotel. The decor was really nice and the beds were comfortable. The staff we really accommodating.

The only negative for me was the parking is not attached to the hotel building. You have to travel two blocks where the hotel shares parking with another hotel. It was a little inconvienent for arrival and departure because you have pick up and drop off your luggage and navigate all the One Way streets to get to and from the hotel. However, I would not let this discourage you from trying this hotel.

Dear David_In_NH,

Thank you very much for your review and commending our staff. We are pleased that your overall stay was pleasant. We understand parking can be frustrating in NYC. Construction and limited real estate in NY complicates it even more. Many of our guest’s find it convenient entering and exiting seaport area because it is close to Brooklyn Bridge and FDR drive. Again, thank you for your review and we hope to see you in the future.

Anyone who's ever booked a hotel room in New York knows it's hard to find a good deal and nearly impossible to find a room with two beds that's a good deal. On a recent trip to New York with my Mom, I found a good deal on a room with two beds at the Seaport Inn near the south seaport area in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. I'd never been down to this 'hood longer than to buy tickets at the TKTS window, but we were really happy staying in this location. There's a lot of construction going on there now, and the hotel was even under construction while we were there...but the staff was very accommodating. There are several enjoyable restaurants in the immediate area as well as great breakfast (Made Fresh Daily) and coffee (Jack's) spots. The Fulton subway stop is just a few blocks away..and the TKTS ticket booth is right there, so you get your choice of half-price tickets without the long line at the times square location.

This hotel is a little dated, but comfortable with a charming staff. They have a nice breakfast every morning and fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. The rooms are large and very clean.

Room Tip: Higher floors have views of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Dear smoovy,

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad that your stay was pleasant and you enjoyed the area. Being a landmark building we have kept the historic feel of seaport area along with modern amenities. We have HD channels and fastest internet available in our area for no charge. Construction on our building façade is scheduled to be completed end of March 2012. This is a necessary work to maintain the building in good shape.

Again, we appreciate your review and hope to see you again soon.

We had never stayed in the downtown area of NYC before. One of the criteria we looked for was parking. The Best Western Plus Seaport on Peck Slip almost under the Brooklyn Bridge was one of those we managed to seek out. It is about one block away from the South Street Seaport as seen on many a movie and is a hot spot for tourists. Located in a very historic area of New york, this hotel is on the old side with plenty of character that grabs you from entering the lobby through the halls and into the room. Our room at five windows in a corner unit. it was like staying in a bed and breakfast. Very clean and functional, the hotel was a quick walk to many of the significant sites of downtown NYC, City Hall, Wall Street, Federal Hall, 911 Ground Zero, fun shopping and great restaurants and leisure spots. The Best Western was also one of the more affordable hotels in NYC. The staff were most helpful and welcoming. They ensured our comfort and cared about our stay with them. Do stay. Feel the hostory from the cobblestone streets to the beautiful architecture of the low rise buildings around the hotel. Explore the wonderful pubs and shops only steps away and of course see parts of downtown NYC that few people take the time to explore.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room facing the Brooklyn Bridge.

Dear GVWStonegate,

Thank you very much for your review. We always appreciate when guest let us know how we are doing. It is becoming harder and harder to find parking spots in the NYC. If you do find one they charge arm and leg. Seaport area makes it convenient if you are driving in to the City and affordable. Again, thank you for your review and we hope to see you again soon.

Thank you SUHEIDY ESTEVEZ the hotel agent who checked us in, first impressions go along way, she was professional, accommodating and helpful, always greeted us as we came and went. The hotel was absolutely wonderful, clean, roomy, the cleaning staff were very efficient in getting the rooms done early, we had a balcony overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to everyone travelling to NYC. Close to the Hop On Hop Off busses, short walk to the subways, lots to see and do right close to the hotel. Great restaurants near by. Continental breakfasts were fresh and plentiful. I can not thank the staff and especially Suheidy you are an ambassador for the hotel. We will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is breathtaking

Dear Franbyers,

Thank you very much for your review. Suheidy is among the many team members who provide great customer service day in and out. We are proud to have such a great team at the Best Western Plus Seaport.

View from our terrace rooms sometimes it is hard to believe but we have it! You can see the Brooklyn Bridge and East Side River. During the night city lights up and fresh air while you are in your own room is most refreshing and relaxing.

Again, we appreciate you review and hope to see you again soon.

I booked the hotel through hotwire as a hiding the name deal for a 3.5 stars hotel. When I finally saw the hotel name, I was quite disappointed. Best Western should be just 2 or 2.5 stars.

Anyway, the hotel is a typical best western. The staff at the front desk is very nice though. The free breakfast is the same as in other best western. The free WIFI is extremely slow and sometimes it doesn't work.

What I personally don't like is the location in lower east town. It might be convenient for people interested in the fish market. For people like me wants to use NYC public transportation, the hotel is about 15 min walk to the subway station. I would like to stay in Mid-town next time when I travel to NYC.

Dear Jon W,

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad that your overall stay was pleasant and we respect your opinion on the location of our hotel and our brand. Our location is often praised by our guests. It gets the highest ranking score next to our customer service. Most guest like the location because it is close to the restaurants, shopping, transportation, and of course the Brooklyn Bridge. Regarding internet we have upgraded to maximum speed offered by Time Warner in our area and this will help ever increasing demand for high speed internet access. Again, we appreciate your review.
