We walked to Via Carota on Sunday evening around 9:30p expecting a long wait, but were lucky enough to be seated immediately near the window. The vibe was relaxed but still had a fun buzz to it. We enjoyed the polpette, polipo, cacio pepe and wild boar ragu. We also ordered a bottle of Aglianico which was delicious. Even with a wait, this restaurant is well worth it!

Have been to this restaurant three times and it has been just as good every time. Last was in August for lunch and it did not disappoint this time either. The menu had changed since last time, but it wasn’t difficult to find something delicious to eat. And dessert was equally good. Would recommend this place to everyone I know.

We went to Via Carota on Saturday night, just as New Yorker magazine article deemed it the most perfect restaurant in NYC. The restaurant is most definitely delicious, and crowded with lots of great energy, and some of the food (primarily the pasta) is outstanding, but there are many other places that can vie for the title of the most perfect restaurant in NYC.
We were a big group, and so ordered a lot! The bruschetta with figs was very tasty- though the bread is nothing special. The Prosciutto and melon was ok, with the prosciutto haven’t a very tough texture. The tomatoes with Burrata was rich and creamy.
The Piselli salad was good, not great. The fried zucchini was hot, crispy and salty- so what could be wrong with that?
The arancini were piping hot and filled with cheese and pork- also a winner. The artichokes were good, not outstanding.
The pastas were stand outs- the cacio e pepe was perfection, and the lobster pasta served with a half a lobster was also excellent. The eggplant parmigiana was executed perfectly. Not too greasy or cheesy- just right. We had fish, we had octopus, we had the griddled hamburger (Svizzerina) all was ok. The Pasta is where you should concentrate.
We had tiramisu for dessert as well as crostata and Semifreedo. All good.
The wine list is terrific, and the service is also excellent.
This is definitely the place to be in NYC right now- it is mobbed, and they don’t take reservations. You should definitely give it a try- I think lunch is an even better time to go than dinner. Just don’t have your expectation be that this is the best restaurant in NY or you will most likely be disappointed.
The lighting is terrible for pictures- so I couldn’t capture too many.

Waited more than 1 hour for a table when the hostess told us it would be 15mins max. Additionally, the hostess was VERY rude and disrespectful; hadn't experienced that kind of poor service before in my life...

Some friends took me here because they said this was the spot to get amazing Italian food. They did not disappoint. Well worth the long wait (almost two hours but we could sit and drink while we waited - some were standing) for this West Village hot spot. The staff were super friendly and our waiter was very helpful in choosing wines for the night. The pricing is reasonable for the quality. We got a private room in the back which was really nice so we could really talk as the resto is a bit loud - but that vibe is fun for sure! If you want a quieter spot that’s a good one. The food is hands down some of the best Italian I’ve had and I have lived in Italy. The green salad as dull as it sounds is amazing, the zucchini fritti was an awesome starter and the grilled artichokes were really good too along with the butter onion pasta- melts in your mouth!! Fun fact - We got to see two very famous supermodels (Cindy + Helena) while we were there which was very fun however we discreetly giggled and did not stare or ask for autographs as that is a New York no no. Definitely a super cool fun and friendly place to go for dinner. I will recommend to everyone!
