The place doesn't look like much from the outside and even from the inside but the taste of the pizza more than makles up for the simplistic decor and flimsy paper plates. Gluten free and regular beers are offered as well asn wine and doft drinks. My grandchildren ate 2 slices each of the whole wheat crust and never noticed it wasn't regular crust. With the thin crust you really taste the toppings too. They offer a sampler which is a great way to taste several of theirn wonderful varieties. Not a cheap place to eat but I plan to go there often. As the space is limited, we did takeout which worked well for us.

Ever since I became aware of Health Grades, denoting restaurant cleanliness, I never go to any whose rating is less than an A (for those that do not know how these ratings work you should check out the NYC Restaurant Health grades web site--you'll be horrified; even an A is not always that good a rating, but at least you'll know that no vermin is to be found in the kitchen!) Sorry for the digression, but out-of-towners need to know this. PIE is clean. OK--that's not its biggest achievement--their pies are ultra thin--like the European pies, come in an infinite variety of toppings and they use fresh organic ingredients. The place is far from fancy, but it has a friendly vibe. It even has assorted games so you can linger and savor a true village experience. That is a big deal in a city that is all hustle and bustle. The owner is a very nice guy; welcoming and honest. If you like thin crust pizza, don't miss this place--but don't be surprised that you won't be charged by the slice--they do it by weight! Enjoy!

Pie By The Pound let's you order a slice, well, by the pound so it can be as small or huge as you want it to be. Their pizza crust is super thin and only with the freshest toppings! YUMMY.
