We visited the place juat before midnight and most of the menu wasn't available as there was only one kitchen employee. The food was suspiciously fast served, probably made in advance and was juat heated. The soup had an after taste and the manager wouldn't return it or even check our complain out. All in all, stay away.

Whenever you get to this place it is very busy and with a long waiting list but it moves quite quickly, especially if you chose the downstairs part of the restaurant , what they refer to as “regular” and not the upper BBQ part.
We loved the bibimbap! We tried several options and they were all very tasty!

Close to the hotel we found this authentic Korean coal BBQ on night of arrival. ”Best Korean BBQ in Manhattan” we heard from the other guest. We believed them. It was fantastic.

You can choose the "regular" or bbq section when you enter. I was shown the "regular", after much insistence to the hostess that service animals were not pets. She was reluctant to call the manager, but when she finally did, I got a table right away. After that embarrassing ordeal, everything else was okay. Stressful.

It was a wet Friday evening. The restaurant was packed, with an average queue. There were no other queues at other Korean or Asian restaurant along this same street. This tells you that diners are willing to wait for their seats at New Wonjo. The menu selection is extensive with what I could see as very authentic cooking style. The restaurant serves Korean BBQ on the upper level and family style dishes, rice and noodles on the ground level. Staff are friendly and efficient, providing helpful tips on what needs to be ordered. This is a great value especially for anyone that has little or zero knowledge of Korean food. As such, if you are craving for Korean food or craving for something that you have never tried before, you can't go wrong with this place. Please be reminded that the seating configuration is sort of a 'coach' class spacing. Hence, if you are planning on a shopping spree, please dine before you head for your shopping.
