Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

The dishes are very very big and each one is enough for 4-5 people.
It's good to come together with friends or family and share!
The food is good!
The restaurant is big but very crowded, and you must order place-or wait very long.
Very special experience.

An order of salad, appetizer, or entree is enough for two to four people. Don’t forget to bring your appetite.

Strawberry lemonade was made to order by the bar. A mixed green salad had a couple of halved Roma tomatoes, butter lettuce, celery, two types of olives, thinly sliced radish and red onion.

We polished a pasta dish with clams and Marsala chicken. No room for dessert and noticed other tables that had it and also made family style for lots to share.

The place was jumping, even after 10 pm on the account of the NCAA final game and theater goers coming in for a late meal.

This place has quantity with quality! Mammoth sized portions. The Caesar salad is excellent and can feed 4. The penne ala vodka is excellent too. And the bread basket they put out is a meal itself! Highly Recommended!

It’s an amazing place to visit with your friends! The restaurant is big but cosy at the same time. Nice and helpful staff. A tip: ask for two of the amazing dishes they have(a pasta and some meat) and share it with a friend. Try the tiramisu for desert, i loved it!
