This restaurant is strategically located as one of the best locations if you are looking for a place to take friends - the decor is very well done - its very Old NYC in a trendy rustic way with an emphasis on bar/beer/alcohol as a meeting place - the atmosphere is VERY inviting. But I give the restaurant a poor rating as the overall experience after you enter and have a meal was typical of New York dining and service. By NYC standards it is "great" but to a traveler I don't classify it as a place I would contemplate going again. This is NOT a value restaurant. The host staff is great - they do their job well. They are very polite and try to seat you immediately. The problem is that after that the wait staff was poor. We waited forever to get menus. The waitress was not happy to be there and clearly showed it. She did what she had to do. There was Zero hospitality. When we asked if we could alter the ingredients or how the item was served she said a flat "No, it is not to our policy here" So we went after the safe menu items and overall it was good. The macaroni and cheese that others have raved about here I will say was a full meal - they give big portions. It came out piping hot in a crockery bowl - but it was macaroni and cheese and that is that. After eating halfway it became boring. The sodas tasted diluted although again large glasses. So this was a mix up on trying to grade this restaurant but given the cost - it was not outrageous but there is little on the menu that is a value and the seating is very simple. If you are visiting here I would suggest spending more and having a dining experience in one of the finer restaurants with reservations before the show within the Lincoln Center complex itself as these finer restaurants must maintain their quality and hospitality to keep the reputation that matches the performances of the center itself.
