This was a great choice of hotel for us as a post-exam treat for our two teenagers. The service was absolutely first class and the pool vibe was amazing - if sometimes not for the faint-hearted! Great people-watching and superb location. We literally went from the Bronx (Yankees) to the Battery (Liberty Island) swiftly and easily. More eateries than you can count within walking distance. One quibble: lack of Gluten Free awareness at breakfast - but go Friedmans in Chelsea Market five minutes away.

Room Tip: The pool was empty at 7am

The room was cleaned twice a day. The staff were amazing and I felt safe. The Meatpacking district was a great area to be in. The pool gets very busy so I would recommend getting up early in the morning to take a dip. I didn't eat there but the food looks pretty good. The hotel was clean and everyone was friendly.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have balconies!

Yes! This hotel was a blast. Love the decor and rooftop pool. Location is awesome and close to everything. The rooftop turns into a chill lounge. Drinks were a bit pricey but we're in the meatpacking...live a little.

A brilliant hotel in a great location. Lovely rooms, very reasonably priced with a very friendly group of staff.
Rooms were always spotless and the staff were always checking to make sure our stay was good.

Straight off the 747 and into a cab to Manhattan. Its always exciting as the landmarks emerge beyond the seemingly constant construction work that can mae this journey so long.

Its a hipster part of town - which generally means cobbled streets, beards and artisan everything. It also means a lot of conversion construction work which meant that the hotel at the time of our visit was surrounded by construction workers and vehicles. Its all good though. New York is a living city - not a museum.

Check in was a quick affair and thankfully Inwas allowed to take my own bags to my room - I'm in my forties - so I am capable! The roof was nice and bright with a view on to the front - and the aforementioned construction work. It wa smy son's birthday and the hotel had left us a bottle of bubbles anda nice card - a very nice touch. The beds were huge with lovely Egyptian cotton sheets. En-suite was very good with quality toiletries. Sleep quality was generally good and having a wee bit of jet lag negated the fact that construction work in New York starts very early, and very noisily.....

One down side was I never managed to work out the aircon. The room seemed to be stuck at 24 degrees (celsius - I've no idea what that is in old money) which if you are from Scotland, is like standing at the gates of hell. Another slight irk was the coffee maker. It wasn't complimentary which seemd rather cheap for a nice hotel in a nice location.

The big plus is the location. Great for the highline, Chelsea Market, Greeenwich Village, NOHO, SOHO and an easy-ish walk to 5th Avenue and Times Square - if that's your thing.

You can't review The Gansevoort without a bit of roof top bar chat. Its a stunning place to look out across the island. Really, very special. But a word of caution. Unless you are on a business credit card don't bother ordering a drink. $20 for a gin and tonic is pushing the boudaries of acceptability. I've had drinks in some pretty special places around the world and never been quite as stunned. Like the coffee, it wasn't the cost, it was that ever so slight feeling of having your pips squeezed.
