This hotel was booked as part of a package from the Uk and was great value. We only had two nights in New York and as it was our first visit, it was important to us that we were near to the main places. The hotel is just round the corner from the Rockafella centre and from here you can take the hop on hop off buses. We went to see Cirque du Soleil at the Radio City Hall which is 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Taxis run past the hotel all the time so are easy to catch if you need one.
As for the hotel itself, our first impressions were good. The staff were very helpful and efficient. West Club is an old building which I personally found enchanting. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. However I do agree with the previous review that the air conditioning is old and noisy. It didn't bother me as it drowned out any traffic noise.however this could be a problem for light sleepers.
There is a lovely restaurant ,ballroom and jazz nights were held every Wednesday when we were there. to sum it up,this was a great value small hotel in a superb location. Would I stay there again? Definitely!

This hotel is located right next to Rockefeller plaza and is within walking distance of many major attractions. The staff are great and the room was very nice. It's an older building and you can see that in some of the fixtures and other amenities but the place is very clean and well kept. If you're one to stay in your room a lot this probably isn't the right place for you but if you just need a home base for your trip to New York then you can't get much better and the rates are great for the location.

The location is great, the staff very nice, and the rooms are fairly large, but other than that, it's very mediocre. When we arrived, they couldn't find a bellman, but offered us the luggage rack. The lobby is tiny and looks like a relic of another age. When I opened the door of our room, it smelled so musty and moldy, we had to run the air conditioner for hours to make it tolerable. The clock was broken, we couldn't figure out how to work the tv, and the phone had no labeling to tell you which # to call for a particular service. For us, having a nice room is an important part of our stay anywhere. This is especially true for us in NYC, as we are both 'expats' and don't need to visit Rockefeller Center, etc. The meeting rooms are lovely and I wouldn't mind holding an event there, but that's not why we were there. Of course, I must say, it is precisely what I would expect from a hotel owned by a Republican women's club.

For the price you're paying, you cannot beat this hotel in terms of location. Rockefeller Plaza, NBC, Radio City, St Patrick's, Saks Fifth etc. are literally just across the street! Times Square is a good 10minute walk. And if you're a tourist who will be out majority of the day, this is the place for you.

Room and bath are basic. Don't expect the rooms to be fancy, because if you are, I suggest you skip this and just check in at any 4 or 5 star hotels nearby so there are no complaints. But if you're a budget-conscious traveller who'd like a basic "home base" to be right smack in the middle of Manhattan, this is where you should stay.

The hotel is a good value, but many travelers may want to know that the hotel and profits go to the Women's Republican Club and there is promotional materials in the rooms and all over.. Some travelers, like me, may forgo the bargain because organization "promotes the position of the Republican Party." I don't want my money going to support their positions and wouldn't stay there again for that reason.

Staff are great. Location is great. Rooms are a bit on the rough side ( loose outlets that was a building code violation in any state). AC Window unit was inadequate, in 90 plus heat. Hard to beat the value. N wireless, no business center.
