“Great idea, great food, great atmosphere”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

I went here twice on my week long trip to New York. It's an amazing place that sells high quality food - all kinds of meat, fish, fresh pasta, sauces - as well as wine and books about food. There are a number of restaurants too - all casual (they don't take reservations) but with tasty high quality food, attentive service, and a buzzy atmosphere. A foodies paradise but without silly high prices and over fussy presentation.
We tried the different pasta dishes as well as a pizza - al of which were well cooked but the real star was some ravioli which all four of us agreed was sublime, leaving a lingering aftertaste of Siciliy in our mouths.
I strongly recommend this restaurant and will be going back.

“Super Crowed, Incredible Food”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

We had to brave the crowds but the food exceeded our high expectations. It's pretty chaotic, but the mozzarella, prosciutto, razor clams, pasta and pizza were all incredible. Will definitely go back.

“Fun place to eat and shop”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

Ate dinner at Birreria, which was great. We had delicious gelato and epsresso in the market area after dinner. Bought some homemade ravioli, sauce, top-notch parmesan cheese, bread, more fancy beer, and of course chocolate. Next door wine shop had an interesting selection of hard-to-find good liqueurs. If you're into gourmet food markets, this is a fun place to go.

“Food Heaven”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

Buy ultra fresh seafood, meats, bread, and produce... fresh and dried pastas, wine and beer, housewares... take a class... have a drink... have lunch, a snack, or a fine dining experience... walk around the place with a glass of wine in hand... You can do it all at Eataly. If we worked or lived nearby we'd be here at least three times a week!

“It was okay....”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

It was busy when we went there. I didn't like how the restaurants are split up by what you want to eat. I would have liked seafood whereas my daugter wanted pizza, but we had to choose one or the other. So, the choices were limited. The service at the pizza and pasta restaurant was absolutely horrible. We almost got up and left. They were really busy, but we were pretty much ignored for a long time. Although it looked like a great place to shop for some authentic italian cuisine and get a quick bite to eat, I don't think I would come back to the restaurants again. The chairs were just plastic and although they say they try to make things "simple", it just seemed cheap. The pizza was tasty and authentic. But I would go back to shop and grab a coffee or a gelato or something quick, just not go to the restaurant. Maybe we just went at a bad time.
