Stayed here back in February with my partner. Hotel was undergoing some sort of renovation so looked shabby, no clear signage. Once we found that reception is on first floor we were greeted by rude staff who struggled with our reservation (a women with white glasses could do with some customer service training), then had problems with our payment as the receptionist found it too difficult to understand that we wanted to pay in cash for the room.
Room was tiny so luckily we only used it to sleep overnight. Heating system is hard/impossible to control.
Wouldn't stay here again on our next visit to NY. More
