We rented comfort bikes from Blazing Saddles to ride from the west side of Manhattan to Brooklyn. The bikes were extremely comfortable and the cycling paths in Manhattan were great. Finding our way on to the Brooklyn Bridge was a little tricky - and navigating the crowded bridge was a little hair-raising at times, but it was great fun. Kudos to the staff at Blazing Saddles, especially Smiley, who was very friendly and helpful.

Used our New York passes and hired bikes to ride up the Hudson Greenway from Southern Sea Port up to Pier 82 for Intrepid Air and Space Museum. Very friendly staff at Blazing Saddles set up our bikes; gave us a detailed map and good advice about the traffic free cycle track up the river side. Though we hadn't ridden bikes for many years, the ride was fantastic - a flat, easy, really relaxed way to see New York from the more peaceful river side and gardens. We left the bikes at Pier 82 where the staff again were efficient and friendly. This cycle ride was a brilliant alternative to all the walking we'd done in the city and we'd thoroughly recommend it.

We rented three bikes at Pier 84. Smiley was so nice and gave great directions and suggestions for our route. Kalel was also extremely nice. Would definitely recommend. Be aware that the online discount is only good if you keep the bikes out for 5 hrs or longer. The trail was easy and we thought the bikes with the comfort seats were great. We headed south from Pier 84 to Battery Park- we did get slightly off the route there but quickly got back on. It was a beautiful breezy day- great views of One World Trade Center. I am 56 and did fine until the Brooklyn Bridge....had to walk my bike up part of the way, but my younger son and husband did not have any problems. If this is your first time to go over the Bridge- I would definitely suggest walking it. The path is very narrow and it was very crowded on the bridge so you are worrying about trying not to hit other people instead of enjoying the view. We then found Grimaldi's (pizza just ok in my opinion) , got ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and then got the Ferry back to Wall St and returned via the same route back to Pier 84. We could have returned the bikes to the Pier 17 location for an extra $5, but we still had some energy so we biked back to our starting point.

Great location! Pre-booked which attracted a discount. The bikes were fab and we were really surprised with how excellent biking around NYC could be!

Big thanks to Smilie for her help in showing us where to go and giving us some good route trips!
