I was PLEASANTLY surprised when I walked in this apartment! The TripAdvisor reviews (which I trust the most) state that this is a dump, don't stay here, etc....So it's safe to say I was expecting the worst. Luckily our apartment was clean and safe, and we couldn't have asked for anything better for the price we paid. I went with three other adults (mid-20s) for a weekend in NY. We didn't go to NY to stay in a hotel/apartment, we went to experience the city- so we weren't planning on spending much time in the apartment anyway. The location of this apartment is excellent- two blocks from Times Square, and it's right on Restaurant Row. Tons of great restaurants around the apartment, a 5 minute walk to a market and liquor store and easy taxi access on 9th. There were four clean towels awaiting us inside the apartment, and enough clean sheets and blankets. The kitchen was perfect, and had everything we needed to make a snack (we brought our own food to munch on). I didn't see any mold in the corners of the bathroom (unlike some of the other rooms reviewed), and the noise level was very quiet. We stayed in 3R, which faced the courtyard- so I'm assuming the rooms facing the front of the street have problems with noise. Our AC worked great (unlike other reviews), so that was a nice plus. We were actually staying in 336 and NOT 334, but it was booked under 334 West 46th Street. The only issue we had with the entire apartment was the doorknob to the hallway- it was broken and had to be handled very gently. We found out that if we push the doorknob together and close the door by pulling the top side of the door and slamming it, we were OK with the doorknob. Just don't jiggle it too much- and don't lose your patience when you first discover it's broken! Other than that, no problems whatsoever with the place. We were very happy with it, and for the price we paid it was an excellent NY deal. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a decent hub in NY, and hope that others have the same pleasant experience that we did.

We stayed here as a group of 6 as this was much cheaper than 2 hotel rooms. The kitchen/living area was lovely and had everything you could need to be comfortable but the bathroom door didn't close as the door hadn't been hung properly which was a little disconcerting when there's 6 of you and only one bathroom. Had to be very careful we didn't walk in on eachother drying off after a shower etc. As you would expect being 2 blocks from Times Square, it is also very noisy until the wee hours of the morning (take ear plugs!). Location was the best thing about this place, we could walk to most of the major attractions. The worst part was the front door handle fell off! They use a lock box on the front door for the key so you can still open and close it but seriously, if i'm paying to stay somewhere and leaving my valuables inside, I expect a front door that has a working door handle and lock! If you're on a budget it's suitable, but be prepared for little things that you're going to raise your eyebrows at. Obviously it's a work in progress so just don't set your expectations too high. It's comfortable and a cheap place to sleep. it does the job.

Room Tip: Only stay here if you are on a budget and are prepared to fore-go the expected 'luxuries' of a hotel room / downtown apartment. Not a good choice for those who value their sleep (over 40's).

We were four adults sharing this apartment and recognize that it is much cheaper than paying for two hotel rooms in the Theater District. Other than the price, we appreciated that some effort had been put into renovation. The kitchen area was very nice and decoration was tasteful. Well-functioning WiFi and good kitchen Equipment were also good points. The manager was very accomodating in letting us arrive before official check-in time. However, other aspects, such as the narrow stairs, the extremely bad plumbing, the lack of air-conditioning in one of the rooms (leaving us with the choice of either suffocating or opening the windows and not sleeping because of the noise from the street) made a really bad impression. The thin door and flimsy lock also made us reluctant to leave anything in the apartment when we went out.

Can you imagine no elevator ! Dirty, smelly dark stairways to greet you. Total turnoff! We had 5 luggages & steep flights enough to break your back. Area is definitely not safe at night. Total rip off! For similar price, u can get a much Better accommodation. Waste of $$$. Total regret!

This place is a MESS: Smells like mold and dirt. Has No fire escape. Very small bedroom with NO knob on the door and water leakage mark on wall. Pillow cases never get changed between the guests coming and leaving; maybe sheets, but not the pillow cases, we used T-shirts as pillow covers. Bathroom and bath tub: FILTHY, damaged cabinet doors, yucky stain marks on the walls, awfully dirty and moldy bath tub curtain, no toiletries, bath tub was clogged and we had to use the plunger. Air conditioning would only work for maybe 10 minutes max and stop for HOURS. Chairs are all BADLY stained we used our dirty laundry to seat on those. The space was supposed to accommodate 4 people but one of the chair/bed was BROKE and we had to use a table under the cushion to support 1/3 of the chair cushion to make a very uneven bed. Oven door broken. You add water to the iron and it comes right out from the other end of it, …. Wonder if Booking.com has ANY standards for their listing.
