“Convenient to Madison Square Garden”
Reviewed 23 May 2012

We stayed at the Kimpton Eventi in May for an event at MSG. It was the perfect location for a quick trip to New York City. We were far enough away from MSG that we were not bothered by all the NY Rangers fans celebrating their win, but close enough to walk to and from the game and train station the next day. The hotel is clean, comfortable and modern with great sheets and bedding. They have Etro bath products and a rain showering the bathroom. The hotel serves wine for happy hour in the lobby and coffee in the morning - a great touch.

This hotel has a great location for arriving in New York City via Penn Station. You can walk easily. We've stayed there more than five times over the past year or so (for business). The staff is excellent from check-in to check-out. The rooms are immaculate and the shower is fantastic. They have a happy hour in the lobby - sadly no lobby bar - which is a real drag. There was a whole food court thing next door that failed miserably and was always in flux over the years. The Bar Basque which we finally tried recently had fantastic food but weird service. They are now gone - we're told it's been replaced with American style restaurant? Really? Hopefully it will be good. The beds are excellent too. The gym is a great with professional equipment. The location is also fantastic for easy shopping (Macy's, Old Navy). We had to have computer work done and found a great business that does so urgently. Drycleaning right down the street is really reliable - plus that guy remembers us too (nice for those of coming from out of town). It's a short walk to the Jazz Standard (fantastic jazz venue with great restaurant serving amazing bbq). Waldy's Pizzeria to your right a couple of blocks down the street has really good pizza. There's a couple more great restaurants hidden in that area as well. Be aware that the area is wholesale merchandise and you have to a few blocks to get out of that area - it's not pretty and shuts down completely at night.

Room Tip: We always choose the best deal unless we're there for an especially long stay. King size bed de...

KatM60763,
We love being your Go-To! That's awesome praise and we dig your loyalty to us! Hey we did just want to update you that the old Food Parc next door has re-opened as Brighton. There is a killer Fish Shack and Burger Barn with a great bar in there - for now Brighton is open M-F 11am-9pm. The boardwalk in the restaurant is just like at Brighton (Beach) - very cool!

I first stayed at The Eventi November 2011 and the whole experience was mind blowing. Beautiful hotel in the heart of manhattan, its two blocks from Penn station and four blocks from macys. I was on business and the location was perfect as it is a 3 mins walk from my business partners.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, i got a corner king deluxe room with a view of the Empire State Building>>>beautiful room, comfortable beds with crisps linen, classic decos, animal print bath robes and every room had an umbrella for guest use! Best bit for me..... the bathroom...all marble with an above average walk in shower...that had the rain shower. My first Stay was three nights, I returned again May 2012 and it was also a wonderful stay - 4 nights. Staff fully understand what customer service is all about. Hotel is not cheap but you get value for more, way above an average 4 star hotel. Please keep this up Eventi.

Room Tip: corner rooms are bigger

Stayed for a week in mid may. The hotel was modern, very clean, nice business amenities, the entire hotel staff were amazing- all dedicated to making your stay pleasant. Rooms were very comfortable, clean, modern with beautiful bathrooms, It appeared that once you get up a few floors all rooms have a view. If there was a down side, it was the restaurant located in the hotel. Apparently the restaurant portion was sold to new owners just a few weeks earlier. I believe it will get better soon as it currently reflects poorly on the hotels great reputation.

Room Tip: Higher is always quieter, and I believe the corner rooms are the better locations.

LandJM,
5 star staff - we agree with you - so thanks! Thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay with us - feedback is so important. The restaurant on the second floor of our hotel is now under new management and we are so excited to see how the Genius Foodie Minds of eSquared Hospitality roll. They are the folks behind BLT here in NYC and they are going to bring their A-Game to the Eventi - come see!

We stayed for four nights in May 2012 and loved everything about the hotel. The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. Well supplied minibar, toiletries and everything else you'd expect from a good hotel and was well taken care of by the housekeeping staff.

Our room on the 14th floor had an amazing view of the city as well as the Empire State Building. It was centrally located near Penn Station and the subway which made it a very convenient spot to start and end our days exploring the city.

The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming upon check in, offering us maps and tips on what to see around the city. The front door staff also greeted us warmly every night when we returned. All the staff we encountered were very genuine and friendly. Jocelyn the concierge sent up a bottle of wine and some snacks on our first night there. It was a gesture that was really appreciated and enjoyed!

We only dined in the hotel once, but we enjoyed a nice breakfast in the restaurant while watching the massive outdoor screen.

Overall it's a beautiful hotel, staff are excellent and no detail is ignored. I'll be staying here when we return to New York and will also be checking out the Kimpton Hotels in Portland, a little closer to our home in Vancouver.
