We enjoyed a four night stay at Chelsea Pines Inn. When we arrived, the nice man on reception was really friendly and helpful. We had asked for a "quiet room" and he went to the trouble of reserving us a room on the top floor. He showed us the room and said that we could upgrade to a larger room (Sheree North) on the second floor if we wanted to - so we did!

We loved the informal breakfast, the pretty little garden, the free wifi, the business centre and the fridge in our room! Most of all though, the staff are just superb: friendly, chatty and really helpful. The hotel is in a very nice area too.

The only negative was that our room had a slightly old fashioned / awkward bathroom and shower arrangement ... but we got used to it.

If we go back to New York, this is where we will stay!

The inn's location is great: Very close to several subway lines, in between the Meatpacking District and Greenwich Village and near the Highline Park. Even Times Square is in walking distance, if you don't mind walking a while. We stayed in the Mitzi Gaynor room on the 5th floor (steep steps!). It was clean, but very small (no space for suitcases, had to climb over bed to get to window), had a damp smell about it and was rather dark. The individual decoration with movie posters couldn't really make up for that. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful though (good restaurant recommendations) and we liked the breakfast buffet and the charming little back garden. We also liked that you could get free tea, coffee and snacks all day from the kitchen area. So basically, we liked everything, apart from our room...

All I have read of Chelsea Pines Inn being a great place to stay in NYC is true. It is your home away from home. I think the biggest factor is the staff, they make CPI that way. They are happy to share their time, knowledge and warmth with you. They think outside the square when needed and go that little bit further to consider what individual guests needs are.
The breakfast area and garden is great and well equipped. I really enjoyed the location of CPI, there is so much to offer in the area, PLUS peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle, but not far away from anything NOT AT ALL
100 steps to the subway, which is not to be frightened of. And the subway takes you just about anywhere (checkout Real New York Tours they have a video on their website "How to ride the Subway in NYC" it takes the confusion out of it, plus do one of their tours, they were great).
Back to the Chelsea Pines Inn.
I loved the linens, toiletries, the towels, the fun of the movie star theme, all of it memorable. To me CPI typified what I perceive NYC is about, a melting pot of people, respectful of each other and proud of what they have got. I stayed there with my husband and 25yr old daughter and we all loved it.

This a very customer-focused property in Chesea/Meat Packing District. You are close to excellent restaurants, shopping and can jump on the subway and go anywhere in the city.

This unique property provides customer service that is surprising and special. They want to make sure that your stay exceeds your expectations and will go the extra mile to be sure that it does.

They provide extra detail when you check-in to be sure you are aware of all the restaurants and shops in the area and will make recommendations and reservations.

They provide a range of items at breakfast that were delicious from fresh croissants to meats/cheese/olives, expresso/coffees, juices etc.

There is a green courtyard in the back that makes you feel like you are in a garden.

They helped me arrange my travel back through Newark on a busy Friday and allowed me to have a late check due to meetings I was having.

What is unique and special about the hotel is the names of each of the rooms as they are themed based on Doris Day, Tony Curtis etc. And all the items in the room are posters from films they have been in.

The only thing you need to be aware of is there is no elevator in the inn. The steps are steep, however, they bring your luggage up to your room and will bring it back down when you leave.

This is a small business owner property so if you would like to support an entrepreneur, you should consider staying at the Chelsea Pines Inn.

What I liked is it is primarily Adults only and is quiet.

We loved it! The location, the garden, the room, the breakfast, the other guests AND last but not least: the friendly and hilarious staff. What makes Chelsea PI special is that you get the feeling you are coming HOME to someone's place. It's tidy and clean but not snobbish. It's a place where you are met by People, not workers. Please, go on doing what you are doing! You are doing it just right :)
