The most comfortable hostel i've ever stayed in! this is my 2nd time staying in HI NY! The staff is wonderful.(A special shout out to Andrew)! You will not get bored, even if you're travelling alone! They organize different activities and tours/ pub hopping every day of the week for a very nominal price (if not free). The kitchen is very well equiped and has a small dining area attached. The rooms are small but very comfortable! Its a wonderful way to make new friends. I had some very fun roommates! Would stay here again for sure! OH! and the best part is, its just a 2 minute walk from the 103rd street subway station, which will get you to mid town in minutes!

Room Tip: choose a 4 bed!

we loved the place. We had booked a 6bed dorm but got a 4 bed dorm which was nice and we did not pay any extra. the rooms were clean and everything provided. We were surpirsed about all the facilities avaliable starting from coffee shop, computer area, lounge, cinema and kitchen. It was geat that they offere cheep and superb tours. I loved the Harlem tour which ended up in a gospl church, definitivly a must to do :-) We also loved the evening stuff they organized (thanks to Rory who organizes the best club tours). It was nice to get to know other people at the welcome parties.
Unfortunalty we too experienced a very loud group of french kids/teens who woke us rather early but were scolded by the cleaning people when standing in the hall and whispering after 10PM.
The bathromes were always clean when I went there and loved the fact that you have some space in the shower to put your stuff. Always warm water.
Eventhough it takes rather long in to downtown the location is nice as it is just round the corner of central park and the tube stop is verry close.
We will definitivly go back again!!!

Room Tip: we did not have the option of selecting a mix dorm and landed up with other old females who went to...

Loved this hostel! Great location, very safe and secure feeling, good clean showers( just make shower late or early to avoid waiting), lovely staff and the tours are great fun... We did the club tour and didn't pay for a drink all night! Start your day with a Bagel and OJ from the lil cafe they have inside and you are ready to take on all that NYC has to offer!!!

I took 21 teens to NYC and stayed a week. The hostel is very secure and staff are super-helpful (Zack was our hero!). Very noisy at night thanks to unruly and unsupervised French kids but otherwise ace. Really very clean, plenty of hot water, amazing breakfasts and great facilities; we had a couple if mice but only in rooms where kids brought food in - notices everywhere say not to do so & other rooms had no little visitors! Very easy access to centre of NYC by subway (2 minutes' walk) and very close for Central Park. Great little convenience store and fruit shop nearby.
Greatest asset is the wonderful staff ... just take earplugs!

First and foremost it was just so nice to be able to get out of the really busy and touristy parts of the city. Walking distance to central park, the subway, and a bunch of nice cheap local deli's and cafes as well as a bunch of the bigger stores.

The accommodation was huge! Its a nice clean and welcoming hostel. The rooms were a bit lacking in powerpoints but with a little patience that can be sorted out. Great facilities - big clean bathrooms, really nice big courtyard, cinema, big kitchen, cafe, and laundry. Really good value in the context of NYC.

Staff were friendly and helpful and we took one of the tours to a Harlem gospel church service and the guide was really great - very good value.

Most problems we had were just because we were in NYC. We had a few crap nights sleep because people go out partying (the hostel isn't rowdy, but people coming in at 3am still isn't great if you are sleepy!) We also had a bunch of our food missing, and from the notes on the fridge it seemed a few of people did. I'm guessing because it went missing overnight it was just drunk people raiding the cupboards at night.

All up though a great vibe, really easy to access on public transport - I felt like a local by the time I left!
