The apartment was really lovely and just what we needed on our family holiday with our two daughters. It is very spacious with plenty of room to spread out and relax after a busy day. The kitchen is well equipped and the apartment has impressive traditional decoration. The apartment is on a quiet, tree-lined residential street and the area was quiet at night. The nearest subway is literally round the corner, which was just brilliant for us. Carolyn was the perfect host, striking exactly the right balance between giving us helpful advice and leaving us to get on with our holiday, and when we had a slight problem with one of the ceiling fans, Carolyn was straight on the case and sorted it out for us.
I'm a planner, so I like things done far in advance. Which is how I was able to find this Landmark apartment! The pictures are accurate but don't quite do it justice. Every corner of the apartment you'll find something original, something historic, some wonderful (orginal) piece of art. There were three of us on this vacation in this three bedroom apartment, the entire top floor to ourselves. But even before we arrived Carolyn had suggestions for transportation (that ended up a lot cheaper than our usual travel options). She tracked our flight into town to keep an eye out for us as we were arriving in the wee hours of the morning. The first couple of days went off without a hitch, then I was hospitalized twice. Again Carolyn went into action suggesting an emergency room, helping with a natural home remedy. Good thing the beds were so comfy as I ended up spending some time there. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest appliances and utensils. Bathroom cleanliness is a big one for me when staying in a rental, and this one met and exceeded my standards (had a skylight). We didn't spend much time watching television but there is an option for movies and streaming television as well. As we all know NYC is know for it's amazing eats, and eat we did, but I dont think either of us gained a single pound walking to and fro, and using the stairs to access our floor. I'm sure i'm leaving out something, but I'll just have to tell Carolyn how wonderful she and her historic apartment were the next time I'm there. And that will be soon.....Thank you so much for for opening your home and life to strangers (without making them feel that way). See ya soon!
