Conveniently located near the 96th Street Subway station, this reasonably priced hotel is an ideal place to stay when visiting Manhattan.
My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel Newton many times when we come to the city from our home upstate to go to the theatre. It's only moments to the theatre district on the subway, either on the express or the local train.
The staff is always helpful and friendly. The rooms, though some are small, are always clean and well appointed.
There are good restaurants within walking distance. Our personal favorite is Aqua on Amsterdam Ave/95th street. And you can get take-out from many places near-by. Rooms have refrigerators.

Room tip: Rooms in the front are larger, but Broadway can be noisy. Rooms in the back have no view, but are quiet and dark for a good night's sleep.

2nd time @ Newton.
Prices are good for NYC, very clean, friendly staff, subway and drugstore just next door, lots of restaurants nearby.
Microwave and fridge help not having breakfast.
Slow elevator and veeeeeery noisy heater tho.
I'll come back :)

We ended up staying here by accident as everywhere else was booked out. From the first point of contact the staff were very helpful and accommodating. They managed to get us 2 rooms for the length of our stay.
Rooms were nice and clean and spacious.
Hotel is a little out the way but just a short cab ride to the heart of everything.
Plenty of shops and other amenities located in the area and not far from Central Park.
We would definetly stay here again if it was a little closer to midtown.

We used this hotel for a long weekend of sightseeing in New York. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is great, just a few steps from the 96th Street stop on the 1-2-3 subway lines. The place was clean and everything was fine with the room, though the building has steam heat so there are the associated noises in the winter. The bed in particular was very comfortable. The room was small but certainly adequate and not cramped. The refrigerator in our room was a nice feature, especially since there are lots of restaurants and grocery stores around. The diner next door is a great place for breakfast. For reasonable rates in the City, we were quite pleased.

Stayed in hotel Newton early December. I was travelling with a friend and was a bit on a budget. We had the double bedroom with a shared bathroom. We stayed for a week, I think one day out of the whole week I saw somebody else use the bathroom otherwise it was just us. The bathroom was only two rooms down the hallway and was clean. The hotel was in a great location, the subway was a 3 min walk (across the road) and if caught and express train which come around every 10min it takes 8 mins to get to times square. I recommend buying a weekly subway ticket for 30bucks. We took the subway everywhere to see all the sights. The staff where really nice at hotel Newtown one guy told us there was a coach sale on at the factory outlets. So we decided to travel the 1hr drive to Woodbury outlets. It was amazing coach handbags for 70bucks wow. The only downsize of the hotel is that there is only on elevator and being on the 12 floor it can take a while, other than that I would definitely stay at hotel Newton again.
