the hotel was clean, but had an old smell which gave me concerns on the cleanliness, not sure how often they clean the carpet or drapes, didn't mind it being older and it was an excellent location to times square and all the theatres, the breakfast was nice and the staff friendly, I work at a hotel and wanted to take the cover off their ac/heater unit to check to see if they clean the filters, also, they might want to change their cleaning products to something that smells better, I couldn't get the internet the first night I was there because I was on the back side of the building, they moved me the next day to the front side and it worked.

Room tip: front side of building

If you are visiting New York , this location is ideal. Times Square is a 5 minute walk, where you find the TKT's booth and many theatres in either direction. Along with hoards of people.

We had a 5 night stay here in mid November. The staffs friendliness was apparent from the offset . Given queen room 700 , which although compact and dated, ( the paint work could do with being freshened up and the carpets could be brighter. ) it was ample for the short time we were going to be in it. The room was extremely quiet, no street noise and warm . Too warm , as we had to turn the A/c heating off. The room had ample storage with a safe , coffee and tea maker, iron & board, very comfortable bed and if you wanted, the linen and towels would be changed daily. The bathroom which was large enough, had a low bath with shower and dispensers for shampoo, shower gel, soap and body lotion. There was also a diffused night light incorporated in the hairdryer, great for reducing disturbance if visiting the bathroom through the night.

A nice little feature was the cube clock, with 2 USB ports and 2 A/c outlets. The room door with keyless access, had a deadlock and security door stop.

In the evening, we were always met by a security guard at the entrance. The elevator was not the quickest, sometimes you had to wait couple of minutes , as it served all 9 floors and lower level. The floor tiles down the staircase were immaculately clean as was the reception area, an achievement in its self.

Down in the lobby is a business centre with 2 computers, printer and fax. Also next to reception is a small fitness centre, with cold water dispenser and cups. Free Daily papers are also available here.

The breakfast area is kept clean and well stocked by a very helpful Jovianne, who works tirelessly to ensure his guests know how things work and what is available. Mainly breads, cereals, bagels, eggs , yoghurts, fruits and refreshments. Enough to set you up for the morning.

For getting about, the Orange line subway is 1 block up on 47th Ave , a 200 metres walk from the hotel, this will take you to Central station; where you can access all lines. There are some great little bars for food and drink on E 44th Ave, we used O' Donohues, the staff came over more friendly than some and they remembered you!

Finally after storing our luggage until mid afternoon , reception pre booked a private taxi to the airport , a flat rate of $ 65 .

Well done to all concerned for making our stay memorable and pleasurable!

Room tip: Rooms at the back don't have a view but are quiet.

Clean rooms and common areas. Very near Times Square and the aggitation of the streets. It has irish pubs and restaurants near by. The cost of these restaurants is above average but if you walk West bound you can find more restaurants. The hotel includes a nice breakfast.

Previous Tripadvisor reviews and favorable rates caused me to stay here for a recreational weekend. It is a semi-modern, clean, boutique hotel with one person at the front desk and another as a combination bellhop/doorman. The staff were bright and courteous. The free continental breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, cereal, bagels and donuts was adequate. The coffee seemed to be always available; and rooms had a refrigerator, microwave, safe, TV and adequate shower. The location is both in the middle of the action, yet on a relatively quiet block. I asked for a quiet room and was offered a rear room on the second floor, which was both quiet and convenient to the lobby without needing to rely on the hotel's only elevator, which might have been a frustrating factor if I had stayed on a higher floor. This property is a great option for a recreational trip to the Midtown/Theater district. It is not a 4 or 5 star property, but it because of the location, service, cleanliness and value, I am comfortable rating it a SOLID 4 stars

This hotel has everything you need. A substantial breakfast, pleasant staff, location perfect. I like the fact they have computers there if you need to print anything off like tickets.
On top of this it was very quiet considering it is just round the corner from the hub of Times Square.
Would definitely return
