Owner description: Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. I must admit, I was a tad disappointed that we couldn’t find a ‘grand’ entrance to the station. However we eventually got through a side doorway and then bam, you walk into the amazing forecourt. What an amazing building. Such beautiful architecture and the restoration has certainly made this station something very special. The ceiling is especially stunning. The food court under the station is worth a visit too. Do not forget to try out the ‘whispering corners’ which are just outside The Oyster Bar. Such fun to do and incredible how it actually works. A definite ‘must visit’ location if you’re in this wonderful city.

It was a nice station with many travellers and we had good coffee and a yummy morning bun from Starbucks.

Don't miss this place when you are visiting New York. Its a proper hubbub but so beautiful. Chandeliers in a train station!!! Gorgeous windows and staircases. And of course like much of New York the view from lots of movie scenes. Free to visit so you'd be mad not to!
