this is the second time we have stayed at Candlewood Suites and it has been renovated since we were here. The rooms are a great size for New York and the kitchenette has a great size fridge (larger than a bar fridge - mid size family size I would say). It is clean, has a bath and shower (over bath) it is well lit and the bed was comfortable. It is within walking distance to Penn St Station, Macy's Port Authority etc. Room 3204 was very good with good views at night. Check-in is 3 pm but on weekends it is very busy so you may need to wait a bit. You are around the corner to Hells Kitchen so be on the lookout for good local restaurants as opposed to the touristy ones. We will stay here next time it has elevators (sometimes a bit slow) but when you have heavy luggage this is a godsend as opposed to renting an apartment when quite often you have stairs. It also has an in house gym and laundry facilities in the basement.

Room tip: 3204 was a good room for us

Have just returned from a 5 night stay in this hotel. Ideally situated for our requirements, we stayed on the 23rd floor, room was ideal, although the fridge was a bit noisy at nighttime, as was the air conditioner, but we just turned off the air con when the room was cool enough. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, plenty of towels, room was clean and comfortable. Reception staff were helpful and efficient, there is a small shop in the hotel which was handy. On the day we left the porter stored our bags for us, as we had a late flight, and also arranged transportation to the airport for us. If I ever return to New York I would stay here again

I stayed here a year ago and was a bit hesitant in booking again because the rooms needed a bit of tlc and the desk chair needed to be recovered as some of the photos in other reviews highlight but could' find anything in similar price range around time square. Was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel was undergoing a refresh and my room had new desk chair and a comfy recliner. The air con and fridge are still noisy and if a light sleeper it could be a problem. Hopefully the owners spend some money on these too.

The staff are polite and always said hello and welcomed me back after a tiring day seeing the sites.

I actually found the lack of daily housekeeping a plus as you were not disturbed and could sleep in or take a quiet nap before venturing out at night.

We have stayed in the Candlewood several times over the past 10 years. Recent renovations have made hotel even better. We stayed in a queen studio suite with sofa bed. The queen bed was extremely comfortable and the sofa provided a comfortable rest as well. Everything was clean and fresh. The hotel offers free guest laundry a real plus, as was the kitchenette with dishwasher . We came to Jersey City for the birth of our first grandson and stayed in the Candlewood with our daughter-in-laws parents. Excellent value. safe neighborhood --excellent staff and management .
