Upon arriving to New York, we gave Michael, the owner, a phone call and asked if we could check in. We agreed on this beforehand, but nonetheless Michael was very flexible and understanding with our check in time. We were greeted kindly and given a tour of the property and how to access it. Our first impression was that the property was very clean and well kept. The owner clearly pays close attention to detail, and answered the questions we had before we could think to ask them.
New York itself was great, and the property is conveniently located by the A line subway. We did not have any trouble getting around. With some exceptions, most of what we wanted to see in Manhattan was within 15-30 minutes of the property by train. We found ourselves most frequently using the A, C, B, and 1 lines. No hassles or complaints there.
Throughout our stay, Michael was welcoming and gave us the right mix of privacy and attentiveness - he was not in our hair or overbearing in any way. We appreciated the small things that Michael did - providing coffee in the kitchen, and being a good citizen by recycling properly, to name a few. The property was kept clean throughout our stay, and everything was as comfortable as we expected. WiFi worked well, though we were in the city most of the time and did not use it. The unit was mainly quiet, although some guests were louder at times.
Though we were impressed at check in, we were even more pleased with check out. Our bus left New York later at night, and Michael did not mind being flexible with check out hours because of that. He saved us a headache.
I would definitely recommend this property if you want a clean, affordable, convenient place to stay in New York during your travels.
