Marti was our tour guide and as I had never met a wine sommelier before I was incredibly impressed. Not only was she able to answer any question about the wines but she gave great suggestions. The tour was so organized. Once we had gotten to Carlsbad after taking the Metra from San Diego, Marti was holding a sign waiting for us all. We first stopped at a restaurant that was completely set up for use with 3 wine glasses and water ready to go. We got to know each other and had a great few dishes with the wines. Going to the next several wineries was smooth and so well thought out. This company does an awesome job at organizing their tours. We had an amazing time and would love to try another one of their tours again!

La Jolla Wine Tours provides a great wine tour! I bought this tour for my wife and I as a Christmas present. The shuttle picked us up at our location and drove us and 3 other groups to the 3 wineries. Our guide, Rob, was very knowledgeable and really helped inform us about the history of San Diego wine and putting the 3 wineries in perspective. He also made sure that we stayed on track and that everything went smoothly. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and we had so much fun visiting with other people and enjoying our day. Also, there was a great balance between the wine tasting and appetizers, water and dinner so that I definitely had a very nice experience. I would highly recommend!

We loved our wine train tour! We were in town for a convention and had taken the vineyard tour last year. This was our second experience with this company and just as great as the first! Beautiful scenery, good wine and met some new friends!

On Tuesday (1/23/17), we took the wine and beer train tasting with our wonderful tour guide, Marti, from San Diego Beer & Wine Tours. It was a fabulous trip. Marti is so knowledgeable about wines and how to pair wines with delicious food. We are far from wine experts, but we just know we like to drink wine. Marti made the experience so much fun for novices like ourselves. We rode the train from the Old Town depot to Carlsbad, where we met Marti and the rest of our group. Our group was rather small, just one other couple. But they were the perfect couple from New Brunswick, Canada. We had so much fun tasting at least 15 different wines at two different locations in Carlsbad, one in Solana Beach and one in Old Town. At the first tasting in Carlsbad, we shared a light lunch at a lovely Italian restaurant, Fresco, in Carlsbad. The food was delicious, as were the Italian wines we tasted. After lunch, it was a short walk to the second winery, Witch Creek, in Carlsbad. Our five tastings at this location allowed us to try a variety of California wines, which were very good. We rode the train to our next location in Solana Beach under the watchful eye of Marti, laughing and sharing our lives with each other throughout the trip. The guys prefer beer to wine, so, in Solana Beach, Marti found a brewery for the "boys" (Culture Brewing Co.), while the "girls" went to Carruth Cellars. Both very unique locations, with delicious wines and beers. Back on the train, talking and laughing even more after 12 ro 13 tastings, we ended our tour in Old Town at Rose;s Tasting Room -- another unique and wonderful experience. At every stop, Marti made sure to find wines and beers that would fit our individual tastes. There is some walking involved, which is needed between tastings. It is not too strenuous and is quite enjoyable, as Marti shares history of the area. It truly was a great experience and one we would highly recommend -- particularly if Marti is your guide!!.
