We decided to have seafood tonight so we tried this restaurant near our hotel the Sofia hotel. We ordered seafood bucket n crab/shrimp combo. We divided into 4/table. Food was good n the crabs were spiced just right. We were not able to finish the crawfish n mussels but ate all the crabs n shrimps. Very satisfying!

We were greeted with a strong fishy smell and the sight of a large plastic shark hanging from the ceiling. Definitely not an appetizing introduction. The food was average at best. I’d have given it a two if it hadn’t been for the great service.

The name "Crab Hut" does not tell much about this restaurant. Here is the variety you can get:

1. A great big seafood boil, served in a messy heap on your table. Choose among shrimp, crawfish, dungeness crab, lobster, snow crab, king crab legs, clams and mussels. This can be boiled and served with a choice of seasonings and degrees of spice. Anything you get can come with corn on the cob, potatoes and Andouille sausage.

2. On the soup list are traditional cajun gumbo and seafood gumbo. These are terrific and quite filling. Be careful about how much you order, unless you're a big'un.

3. Oysters on the half shell. Limited selection but good.

4. Cajun and Creole entrees. The jambalaya is legit. Seafood Creole is tasty. Have not tried the other entrees.

5. An amazingly long list of appetizers. The sampler boat could serve as a meal for two: fried shrimp, calamari, bite-sized fish fillets, crab poppers, nicely done hush puppies, great onion rings, sweet potato fries, cajun fries and fried okra. It's all fried and wonderful in its variety and flavors.

We were just in from Seattle and wanted to see downtown and also test the seafood, thinking fish and chips. We asked the car rental guy and also the local valet at a nearby hotel where to go and they suggested this place. Seafood Gumbo was excellent, and the catfish was surprisingly moist. Satisfied.

Made a reservation on open table but probably didn't need it. Not that busy during the week. It is hard to find parking around the area. Waitress super friendly. I ordered the crab pot 1/2 medium. Beware the 1/2 medium is spicy hot! Also the corn and potatoes were floating in a spicy water bath at the bottom of the bucket.
I had to wipe the spices off and dry the pieces to eat. I felt the food overall was delicious it was just the mess of the spice and water. The cornbread was also very delicious. Would definitely go back. Know now not to get the spices though
