Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

I'm not a zoo person but being in San Diego we thought that we should go and I'm not sorry. The enclosures were all animal friendly the collection of animals was amazing, A very user friendly tourist attraction as their was lots of signs and transportation within the zoo itself.

We had a lovely day at the zoo. Lots of animals to see and they all seemed to be well kept and cared for. The pandas were lovely. A polar bear eating a carrot literally sat the opposite side of the glass to where we stood- was great to be so close! The food seemed reasonably priced.

We were excited to visit the San Diego Zoo again, as our younger son had never been there. It is such a beautiful place, even without all the amazing animals. We had to wait 45 minutes to see the pandas, but it was well worth it. Do yourself a big favor and buy tickets in advance to avoid the long ticket lines. My kids literally thanked me for doing so when we walked past the lines!

This zoo is amazing the welfare of the animals is obviously top priority. They all looked so content. The design of the zoo makes you feel like you are in a tree canopy. This has to be the best zoo in the world. I’d like to mention the lady in the coffee shop by the entrance for her interesting fact “ meerkats don’t drink water they get all they need from their diets!”

Lots of kids running around, but lots of happy kids being able to see things that they would never be able to see before. What a beautiful zoo, clean, friendly staff, worth every penny!
