This once was a vibrant "mall" but no longer exists. The whole area has been fenced off and according to the locals surrounding this area, Horton Plaza has been in "remodel" status for over 2 years now. This whole place is CLOSED. We parked nearby at Spreckels Theater not realizing this. We walked around the area thinking maybe the area we were in was just closed off due to construction, thinking we would find an opening somewhere to find some shops open. Nope. That's when we finally went into some of the nearby businesses to talk to people and they told us stories about what some of the plans were for this place. It's really sad that Horton Plaza didn't make it!
PS we are on vacation for 2 weeks and our goal was to just drive around San Diego and find fun things to do & not look online for things to do. Welp, Google would have helped in this case!!
