There is not much else around in the downtown area of San Diego and this one really does not have a lot going for it. There is a small Macy's and a number of specialty shops and that is about it.

This mall opens to a large square Opposite the US Grant hotel.
There is a Starbucks cafe in the middle of the square.
Macys and other shops occupy the multistory building.
I felt uneasy as many homeless are taking spots in the area.

At first sight, Westfield Horton plaza looked innovative and attractive with its brightly coloured multi-level outdoor design. The mall was deserted until lunchtime, when people came to use the food court. Choices for food were limited to low quality fast food. The shops were empty except for Macy's which had a sale on. However, to get to it from Broadway, I had to cross the Horton Plaza which was home to many down and outs sleeping rough, talking to themselves or shouting at tourists. Apart from the spectacular Irving Gill water fountain and other water displays, there was little to cheer the visitor.

This mall is a good shopping alternative downtown SD. The food court is small but decent. Not too many stores but the Macy's makes up for some of it

I am a multiple returning SD visitor and I love downtown San Diego and it's great located shopping mall.
But: what the hell is going on there?
So many stores are closed, also most of the food courts are put of order. Why?
Still worth to visit, but this area has seen better years...
