The BSO is simply a world class institution. I have never been to a concert at the BSO which did not have a profound effect on me.
That said, it is very unfortunate that such a cultural experience is marred by the shoddiness of its hospitality services: very run-down service counters, uncomfortable and unsuitable dining furniture, very unfriendly service and worse of all, a service on plastic trays with plastic cutlery without even an inkling of hospitality culture. Is it too much to ask that at least a minimal effort is made to prepare and serve the food in a manner which is befitting the occasion? This part of the BSO experience clearly has to be rated as "terrible" which sadly detracts from an otherwise cultural highlight in Boston. While the catering is clearly not a reason to attend the musical performances, it is such an intrinsic aspect of a night out at the concert which can make the experience truly exceptional and bring it in line with similar venues in other cultural capitals of the world.
