The atmosphere took a hit on my ratings and the service was so-so. However, the food was so good, it completely negated some of those factors. The Bulgogi- Spicy Pork isn't grilled exactly how I am used to it, but it was still amazing. The portions were large and prices were good. We came back a second time and still loved it.

Small and limited seating, no Korean BBQ here but very good dishes. Not a typical Korean restaurant, only a few tasting opportunities with kimchi, beans and a pickled daikon. Yukgaejang was very good, also had the grilled squid that was hard to eat with chopsticks and the Ohitashi that was a nice portion but overtly sweet. Would stop in again for sure!!

Suishaya is at its core a Korean restaurant, offering the usual fare (bulgogi, kalbi, stews, soups), but they also offer sushi and "grassland bbq", which seems like a cross between Korean banchan (vegetable appetizers) and Japanese yakiniku (grilled meats). Anything from corn to fish balls are grilled, skewered and presented as a single-stick appetizer and goes really well with Suishaya's somewhat limited selection of sake, wines and Japanese beer.

It's a great place to eat, drink and hang out with friends and has more of a bistro feel than a traditional Korean restaurant.

I've been coming to Suishaya for almost a decade, and my meal this past weekend highlights exactly why: I can get an always-satisfying spicy tuna roll (and many other more creative maki) at a decent price while having it taste super fresh and with perfect rice. I can order any of my favorite Korean food dishes and I know they'll be satisfying: whether it's Kimchi Jjigae, Tteokbokki, Galbi or anything else, it's always spicy/fresh/satisfying/quick, and comes with banchan. Great location too; being right in the heart of Chinatown makes this my #1 go-to restaurant in Boston.
