We were told this was Boston's only Mexican Food Restaurant. It was within walking distance of our hotel in the Back Bay area. This seemed to be pretty authentic Mexican Food. Service was great. We are used to Tex Mex so we didn't think it was as good as that, but we had great guacamole to begin. I had the Pork Adobo and the meat was seasoned deliciously. My husband had the Puntas Puerco and he enjoyed his dinner. Good refried beans.

We really liked the atmosphere. You walk down a side alley to get there. Watch for the sign or you might miss it. We had the skinny margaritas and they were quite tasty.

Went here on a recommendation of a friend. It's easy to miss, kind of on a little side alley street off Newbury/Boylston. Cool entrance, the inside was larger than I expected with an underground type feel similar to Lolita's. The atmosphere was great! Lots of color tile, a few different rooms and a small outdoor terrace area. The food selection was great too, many options of varying prices. I opted for two appetizers which were both yummy, one was the fish taco and the other was the Oxaca tamale with pulled pork wrapped in a banana leaf (so cool)...both plenty big with the tortilla chips we had. Overall would absolutely go again, staff was super nice. Hidden gem for sure.

My friend and I had dinner here on a Thursday night. We arrived at 6pm and were seated right away. Margaritas were awesome and food amazing. I had enchiladas poblanos. Just terrific. Staff were friendly and professional. Can't wait to go back!

Back in the 70's, when we were desperate for Mex. food in Boston, this restaurant was the only place serving authentic. But, since then many have arrived and many are just as good or better. We went again recently to compare. They are still in the same alley, garden level, location as before. The food is good and the service top notch. Prices are very reasonable for this part of town. But parking is always problematic and why take the T when we have a very good Mex. restaurant now in Belmont. So, it may be another long time before we visit again.

We were looking for a pre-Sox game restaurant and found Casa Romero on Google Maps. It's a great little Mexican spot slightly off the beaten track in the Back Bay. Only one block from the hustle of Newbury St., and you could walk right by it and not even notice. But it's definitely worth seeking out. They have a very nice dining room and a small secluded outdoor patio that feels miles away from Newbury. I had the Sauteed Pork Tenderloin Tips and my wife had the Beef Tenderloin Tips. Both were superb. Their salsa is among the best I've had, and the Red Sox Margarita is great (and also potent!). We'll definitely return.
