As Australians, America's Revolutionary History is completely unknown to us. We visited the Tea Party Museum at the end of a day walking the Freedom Trail. Should've done it first! Even with tour notes our Freedom Trail walk was a bit 'old building, old cemetery, some person's old house' - completely over our heads. Our visit to the Tea Party Museum however changed all that - suddenly it all made better sense! We decided to go to the museum because it is performance based. Looking at artefacts would've meant nothing to us. Instead we left having experienced a story that gave us a good grounding in this important event in Boston's past (and here I was thinking the 'tea party' was some kind of afternoon tea shindig!).
