But they rally shine in the side dishes. The okra is not the breaded gunk, but crispy fried with just the right seasonings. The Brussels Sprouts make your eyes roll back in your head they are so good. All kinds of genuine Southern food is featured, and the chef does them honor. That chef deserves a wider audience and more appreciation than is available in this modest, local-folks joint tucked away in a strip of shops. Don’t let the facade deceive you. You won’t get a better hot meal in Asheville.
