“Mixed reviews”
Reviewed 5 April 2018 for a stay in March 2018

We have mixed reviews about our stay at this property. We really enjoyed the nice mountain views and Jacuzzi hot tub as well as the wild turkeys that greeted us just about every afternoon. The location was also very convenient and close to all the attractions that we wanted to visit but also away from the city and it was secluded and private which is what we wanted.
We did have some issues and we’re disappointed to find out that the stinkbug problem that we read about online had not been taken care of. I got used to these bugs and did not have a problem with them since they do not bite, sting, or get into your food but my wife and daughters did not handle these bugs roaming around the house well. We also had issues with wasps and found three that we had to kill and one of them was on the master bedroom pillow. With that being said it was hard to relax and rest that night because we could not stop thinking about us or the kids possibly getting stung by a big wasp while we slept. During this time on the last night we also heard a strange noise in the master bedroom. Upon investigating with a flashlight I saw a mouse scatter and run and hide in the wall unit. I understand that you can expect certain bugs and critters while staying in a mountain home in the woods but this seemed unacceptable and of course we could not sleep the rest of the night which made the long drive back home the next day very difficult. We were also disappointed with the reply that the homeowners gave us after reporting the wasps and mouse and they seemed to be dismissive and not offer any type of compensation for this unacceptable and unfortunate incident. I am glad that this happened on the last night because if it would have happened earlier in our trip I do not think that we would have been able to stay at this location knowing that there are mice and wasps freely roaming around in our rooms.
Overall if we would not have had to deal with wasps, stinkbugs, and a mouse in our rooms this would have been a great place to stay at.

Thank you for your review Paul. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Long Range Mountain View home, the location, the views, the hot tub and the wild turkeys roaming the property are definitely a highlight. As you expected, there are critters in a mountain home and though the house is regularly treated for pests, when it's spring time there's the occasional surprise until we can have it taken care of. When you advised you had found three wasps in the home and that a mouse had visited in the night to snack on some chocolate I responded thanking you for letting us know with an assurance they would be taken care of. You had already departed so we took care of the wasps and laid a trap for the mouse. As I didn't receive a reply from you I assumed all was well. All in all, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and made some fond memories in Asheville.

“Perfect mountain get away!”
Reviewed 20 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Georgie and John’s beautiful mountain home. It was very comfortable and clean with AMAZING views of the river and mountains! We came back from our activities each day looking forward to huddling around the wood burning fireplace. We even took advantage of the hot tub! We highly recommend this conveniently located, tucked away gem!

I don't know where to start! This cabin is beautiful. My husband and I where looking for a cabin to stay for our honeymoon. We wanted a view (the picture of the view does NOT do the actual view any justice. The sunset will take your breath away.), a jacuzzi (which is beautiful and amazing), a hot tub (it was a little too chilly to use the hot tub but we loved using the bar overlooking the view to eat our meals at!), and a fireplace (smores, smores, smores!). We loved the cozy furniture and the master bedroom with a tv. My only complaints were that there is a stink bug problem that we were unaware of until we started seeing them, mostly in the bedroom. Lastly we were really looking for privacy, as we come from Orlando with way too much commotion. There are few cabins around this one but 4 out of our 7 days there was a car parked in front and people coming in and out of the basement area (being refurbished) that is not included in the rental. Though they were not loud, it was a little off putting of not really having the place to ourselves.
Overall this cabin is immaculate and we didn't want to leave.

Thank you for your review Amy. We're so glad you both enjoyed your honeymoon. The Asheville Long Range Mountain/River View home is gorgeous and thank you for pointing out the many wonderful qualities. We will take the necessary steps to try and ward off the stink bugs, thank you for letting us know they are back. We feel it is necessary to copy an excerpt from our listing regarding the home office in the basement. Its existence and use is very clearly mentioned. While the basement is currently being renovated, no work is ever done when guests are staying upstairs and the home office is located under the garage. Parking for the office is to the right of the garage and the entrance is via a separate fenced yard to ensure guest privacy.

Excerpt from the TripAdvisor listing ........."The home is split into three levels, you will be renting the upper two levels which consist of the main floor, plus the loft for a total of 2600 sq ft. The lower basement level will not be occupied during your visit, however, THERE IS AN OFFICE WITH AN OUTSIDE ENTRANCE THAT WILL BE USED BY CCMC PERSONNEL DURING YOUR VISIT."

Congratulations on your wedding, we hope to have you back for your anniversary.

“Perfect weekend getaway”
Reviewed 14 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

We just returned from a girls weekend getaway at this wonderful mountain retreat. There were seven of us and the house accommodated us perfectly. There was ample space for all of us to relax, eat, sleep, shower and relax in the hot tub! Beds were comfortable and all the kitchen/eating space was great. It was so close to anything we needed yet the property felt very secluded. We would definitely stay there again!!

Liked best: The view and layout of the house.
Liked least: The only complaint we had was that the loft was a little warm. We had to take the fan up there.

“Pet Friendly and Guest Friendly”
Reviewed 19 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We just returned from a two-week stay at this extremely well maintained property - and we miss it already! The property was 100% as advertised. It was 15 to 20 minutes from driveway to downtown Asheville and was easily accessible, with no heart stopping driveway inclines or dangerous mountain roads to get to the property (we have had previous nightmarish access problems with other mountain properties). John (the owner) resides nearby and was totally responsive to questions or issues. The only "issue" we experienced was that, as a result of the property exterior being recently painted, several of the windows were unable to be opened due to hardened paint. I notified John in the morning and the problem was resolved while we were out for the day. On a scale of 1-10, the comfort level of the house was a 10. The setting was superior and the long-range mountain views were beautiful. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a property with a view that is beautifully maintained and has easy access to downtown Asheville.
