If you are approaching Gunnison from the west, the Alpine Inn is one of the first hotels you will see. It's very close to the airport and being there in the off season we had no airport noise at all, this might be different in peak ski season. Being at the extreme west end of town, it's a bit far for easy walking into downtown. This is an older property and it shows in the size and arrangement of the place but they it has been or is being updated. Even though it's older is was very clean . It's well maintained and the smal breakfast area in the lobby is nicely furnished and decorated. The room was comfortable and warm with 14° temps outside. They offer a breakfast but it's not served until 7 am making an early start on your day difficult and it is spartan compared to other hotels. No fruit, no muffins or bagels. Two kinds of sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles and biscuits with rather thin gravy. So this is good place for a good nights sleep, on a fairly comfortable bed in a clean room. Take your own soap and shampoo as what they provide is the cheapest possible. This a good value with no frills hotel.

I mention the gravy, which is prepared each day for the biscuits provided for the complementary breakfast. He uses two sticks of butter to start with (sharing part of his recipe with my husband). Breakfast also includes a variety of choices. But let's get to the room and amenities: comfortable bed, quiet location, WiFi is great, etc. Friendly owners, makes it a "home away from home" for your stay in Gunnison.

We needed a room for 1 night on a road trip through Colorado and Alpine Inn was well reviewed. Our room was comfortable and it was as we expected. The breakfast was good and the employees were helpful. We would stay again.

We needed night accommodations and were pleasantly surprised that we found Alpine Inn in Gunnison, Colorado. Comfortable room, good service, clean accommodations, and an excellent hot breakfast to start our long drive home. This family owned hotel knows how to serve their customers, so we will be back.
