This place looks great online. In real life not so much! Checking in was a seamless process, lobby smelled weird but eh whatever. On the property there are several semi feral felines. Our room smelled like mildew/ mold, it appeared clean but already had occupants... ants small ones everywhere especially in the bathroom. AC smelled musty and please don’t say it’s because it’s Florida, I live here and had just spent 2 days on the Keys and that hotel smelled fine! The beds here were clean as were the towels. I think the breakfast looked good but it the smell of the place was super off putting around food so I couldn’t eat there. Mini fridge worked great, the pool looked nice.

First of all for the price which we paid this is a reasonable hotel.

Location: If you want to visit Everglades or Biscayne National Park Park, this hotel is very close . It is 45 min drive Miami if there are no traffic. We stayed on March during spring break and the traffic was heavy to Miami, it took us 1 hour 15 to reach Miami Beach.

There are some good restaurants ( Mario serves Cuban food) , Taco Bell ( for budget lovers) .. these are some of the restaurants we went. There are other hotels too.

Rooms: decent rooms , nothing impressive. The biggest disappointment was the shower. The showers is the bathroom was worse we had a hard time to take a shower, it was dripping. They should definitely look into improving the showers.

Overall a nice deal for 60 dollars a night during spring break.

Check in demonstrated the 1* experience, we asked to check in early but rooms not available (not a problem) but at 3:00pm when they promised the rooms would be ready, they were still not cleaned. Frustrating. Witnessed receptionist telling other guests if they don't like the hotel, they can always leave and find another!
Finally got in the room at 4pm, despite asking for adjoining rooms with my 80 year old mother, they put us on opposite sides of the motel. Receptionist was more interested in her friend's baby than serving guests and kept hanging up the phones to guests asking for directions, room rates etc.
I was told to speak to the manager if I wanted to get adjoining rooms, we did so and he was initially helpful, however he got bitten by the same bug as the receptionist when he saw he had a queue of guests waiting to complain. It really was that bad.
Now the 5* bit, rooms were comfortable, clean and bed was amazing! We were on the quieter side of the motel so no disturbances (see later). Breakfast was excellent considering it was free, hot food, plenty of fruit and other typical breakfast items, lots of tables and chairs to enjoy.
Maybe we were unlucky but the hotel had multiple visits by the Police, ambulance service and fire department over the 3 days we were there. One of the cleaners was telling a guest the hotel attracts crazy people who are very noisy and the staff are used to the emergency services being called out to the hotel.
Pool appeared clean and ok, but sooo cold despite the air temperature in the high 80s. Plenty of sunbeds and chairs, albeit not clean.
Homestead was not a cheap location, but the Floridan hotel was a good 3* choice near plenty of restaurants and the Florida Keys outlet mall.

Room Tip: Rooms not overlooking the pool seemed quieter.

Seem to have a problem supplying towels. Breakfast is above average. and pool area is very nice. The biggest problems were noise. We sat out by the pool and the leaf blowers were so loud, you cant talk over it, then we went inside by the TV sitting area and two of the workers were vacuuming the floors. Not a very relaxing place, you think they could do this at a different time, or find some equipment that was not so noisy. Not very aware of customers comfort.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the pool are nicer for view, but then you have to park on the the other side.

My room was exactly as advertised, except for two lamps that worked sometimes and not others. The biggest lamp had a cut power cord that was laying on the floor. The main power worked the entire time (last visit it went off three different times due to my next door neighbor using her hair dryer). "Fresh" towels were delivered, but three of them had brown stains that were dried on, so they went into a pile on the floor. The bed had lots of pillows and the air conditioner worked perfectly. I appreciated being allowed to check in 2 hours early because I wasn't feeling well. Office staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly. This is a very acceptable hotel for the price.
