By the time you step off the airplane, you'll know that you won't find anything of excessive luxury in Nome. Judging from outside appearances, this hotel is one of the better places for one to stay in this town. Located towards the Eastern end of Front street, this hotel is walking distance to a few restaurants (Subway) and bars. Although, who are we kidding - almost everything in this town is walking distance. The front rooms of this hotels face the water - the Bering Sea. Inside the rooms, the beds were comfortable and clean. Linens and furniture was rather worn out - but considering the cost of getting things up to Nome, househood goods here work overtime. Room had a full kitchenette with cutlery and plates - which made the stay cheaper - you would buy groceries at a store in town and make food in the room. Although there was no stove in my room, there was a commons room on the first floor with a stove and additional cooking tools.
The only issues I had with the room were wear related. My room's window would not close, but that issue got fixed after I asked the staff, who were friendly during my entire stay. Cabinet doors were loose and one fell off. Walls are thin and I could hear other guests' televisions at some points during the evening.
Overall, this was a good place to stay in Nome, but would probably qualify as a 1.5-2 star motel elsewhere in more urban areas.
