I booked Vertigo for 3 nights at the beginning of our California road trip. We always lean towards design-led boutique hotels, which seem to be quite hard to come by in the US. Well the bedroom was lovely, excellent bed, linen, cleanliness and design. But the bathroom appeared to be the original from before the refit. So rather dated and unremarkable, which considering the concept for the hotel was a bit disappointing.
The lobby (unfinished at the time) was also unremarkable, the elevator and public areas lacking in any attention to detail. All pretty average.
The staff were polite, and helpful, but all in all we enjoyed our stay in San Francisco but the hotel wouldn't be one to recommend on a design level. I had expected more.More
