During a recent trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley, we stayed here after my wife booked this hotel through Priceline. This was our least favorite place we stayed on the entire trip, staying at five different hotels on the trip of various types. First problem, when we checked in we were actually sent to the annex a block over. The annex is older and it shows. Wifi connections were poor, the computer provided on the floor we were on was so slow it was unusable and the card activated elevator was only working sporadically.
The second issue is that if you pay for parking when you check in, it's for the main hotel, meaning your walking a block over to your room. The ridiculous part of that is that there is private parking right next to the annex that is much closer and cheaper. Fortunately I knew there had to be some other parking options, so when I checked in, I asked the clerk if there was private parking near. He smiled sheepishly and stated quietly that there was cheaper private parking right behind the hotel. To his credit, when asked he was truthful, but I watched two people check in before me who paid for the parking at the hotel and were told nothing. Don't ask don't tell I guess.
Anyway, if you book through priceline like we did, the options are kind of out of your control. But if you are picking your own, I would suggest trying other options. FYI, it's not walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, but the Hilton at Union Square was priced similarly and was much better. Also enjoyed the Union Square area much more than the Wharf. You can always take cheap public transportation from Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf anyway, so I suggest staying around the Union Square area.

stayed here for 3 nights. room was very medeocre for the price. area is good, but not close to fishermans wharf as claimed. was over a. 8 block walk to peir 39. have numerous seperate buildings, all of which are pretty old. needs upgrade badly. staff is rude, and very unhelpful, if they understand english. very rushed check in, horrible parking situation, which they still manage to charge $40 per day for. overpriced room service, and very overpriced considering its from Dennys, which is normally 4.99 for the grand slam. almost $20 for basic SMALL breakfast. charge for individual phone calls EVEN LOCAL. took almost all day for them to pick up the room service tray from hallway after we ordered. wifi is slow, elevators were scary! hardly any channels. no jacuzzi suites, or extras. the only good thing to say is they were the only hotel in town that was affordable and does not have bed bugs. whole town is infested...

Dear Lissa D,

Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay with us. Sorry to hear you did not have a perfect experience. As we are one block from Fisherman's Wharf and near Pier 39, parking spaces are very limited. Everything in San Francisco is relatively expensive. We truly thank you for bringing the front desk service concern to our attention as this gives us the opportunity of improving what we already do. Again, we thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.

great location for sure. i had a king and it was roomy. clean and elevators worked great too.
i was there for a conference and it was real convenient.

only issue was the breakfast. it was almost 50 bucks by the time you had coffe and a juice. that was a rip. i went across the street to joannies and that solved that..haha

the bar is big and the bartender is great.

Room Tip: i had the king and just so you know. if it doesnt say view it means it. i had a view of the building wall next door. it was ok since i wasnt there for the view but if you are be sure to check.

We stayed here from 26th - 30th December 2011 and had a lovely time. Right on the wharf this place was just as expected- simple decor but clean and well presented, with friendly staff.

We had a room at the rear of the sister building, and found it a little noisy in the mornings due to the tram running past the window (with bells). That said, when we opened our curtains we could see Alcatraz and it was a great setting from which to explore.

Try Jacks' bar round the corner (around 100 draft beer taps) and the Buena Vista cafe for brunch- Boudin's breadbowl chilli and clam chowder of course, and be careful walking along the wharf as there's a friendly homeless guy hiding behind his branches waiting to jump out at unsuspecting passers by.

In all, a great time and this place is centre of the Universe for all things wharf. There's even a Denny's in reception that's open 24 hours for those late-nighters like us.

Have fun,

Ben and Aimee.

Room Tip: Avoid the back of the sister building which is on a tram rail.
