Stumbled across this place in the early morning whilst trying to get use the time zone difference. It was already open and busy at 7.30am with locals eating their food. If you want cheap uncomplicated Chinese food then this place will suit you. Noodles, rice, dim sum are available, selection is not massive but doesn't need to be . Managed to eat couple of bowls of congee, some plates of dim sum for under $10. Staff can be very abrupt but nothing to bad. Ate with my young kids and had no issues. Collect your food from the front and grab a table.

Almost on the corner of Stockton, we were waiting for the 10 bus which seems to run only every half hour, when we spotted a sea of elderly orientals happily eating inside this place. There were several long tables and every chair was taken.

Peering in we saw a long list of dishes on the board in both English and Chinese but no prices. We watched a Chinese woman order canteen style and then stagger off to squeeze in among the other customers, clutching an overfilled plate.

The first 3 things on the board were chicken on rice, roast pig on rice and roast duck on rice. There were dozens of other less well-known offerings, many with noodles. I ordered the duck, the serving woman piled it high with boiled rice, about half a head of broccoli and perhaps 6 ounces (200g) of roast duck. Then some gravy was poured over. All this turned out to cost only $7!

By that time several chairs were available. The rice and broccoli were not bad at all, neither was overcooked and both were surprisingly acceptable as we did not know what to expect at that amazingly low price. The roast duck was too salty and bony but the meat was tender.

Open daily from 7am to 6pm. Very little English spoken but enough. At this price and for this much food for only $7 we were staggered that no backpackers were present.

4* is for the great value! The food could be called average, we think, assuming the other meats are better quality than that duck, which left an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Otherwise , this place should be 3* for great value but poor food.
