“YUM!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

We read about Mama's when we were planning a friends visit. We live in Dublin, CA and had not been yet. There was a wait, which we expected based on reviews, but the weather was great and it just gave us time to visit more.

Very cute little place with very friendy staff (all but one). You order at the counter and then get sat. We had the monte cristo, pancakes and french toast and all were soooooooo good! The monte cristo was just like french toast and not greasy at all and I had no idea pancakes could taste so good!

If you visit the restroom, it adds to the charm, you have to walk through a tiny kitchen and take stairs outside to a little "shack" that you can't fit in unless you turn sideways.

The only complaint I would have is one waitress who seemed bothered by our toddler. Everyone else talked to him, played with him, brought him crayons, but this one lady (short curly hair) kept acting like he was in the way and too loud.

A++++++++++

“Best breakfast in SF!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2012

We decided to have breakfast at Mama's after reading the TA reviews. Its been 5 months and sometimes we still wish we could plan another trip to SF just to have breakfast.
We we staying in Union Square, from there we took a taxi, we tried to give him directions but he automatically new where we were trying to go. The cab ride was about $12, however we needed to go to one of the Piers after...so, it was worth it.

We arrived there early. People were in line already, we waited about 45 minutes. But I wouldn't mind waiting again 1 hour for that kind of breakfast. From the window we could see workers were preparing everything fresh, cutting veggies, fruits, bread, squeezing orange juice. The only problem was the place, it is a little small. Tables are small as well. It looks like it used to be a house. Since the space is limited they only allow a certain amount of people inside, you get there, you pick what you want, you pay (cash only, sorry), the biggest problem is choosing, variety is too big and everything looks delicious, I got the french toast sampler! 100% recommended. and my husband picked the Italian omelett, WOW!!!! we also ordered fruit, coffee and orange juice. I cant remember the total but it was no more than $30 and we were full that we had to skip lunch and just have early dinner.

“If you have a plenty of time, give it a go!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2012

The food is wonderful both for eyes and mouth, but if you don't have enough time, the food wouldn't make up your time.
I had to wait outside the shop to enter and wait again to order foods before sitting, then again wait to have a sit. The total waiting time wasn't that much pleasant until i was served with the foods. I was happy with the nice foods, but after finishing and getting out of the place, I wondered if that food was worthwhile enough for my waiting.

“So good we ate two days in a row.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

We went on Thursday and didn't wait at all, the food was delicious. The place is quaint and the service was very friendly. We went again on Friday and there was a bit of a line but it was a nice day and we were in no hurry. I think it was about 30 minutes form the time we got there until we were seated. This is where it got interesting, again the food was delicious. But when we were in line to order we noticed this young couple just sitting there holding hands and gazing at each other. Their food had been cleared and they were not even drinking coffee any longer. When were were seated, right next to them they continued to play with each others fingers, including playing thumb war!! 3 times the servers came by and asked if they wanted anything else and they said no. Apparently they couldn't take a hint that the table was needed as people were standing waiting to be seated. We were served and finished our meal and left and they were still sitting totally oblivious. That is how nice the people are there because if I had worked there I think I would have asked them to take their gazing and finger play to the park across the street.

“Breakfast lovers delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

Come here if you are hungry for an old-fashioned hearty breakfast. As others note, be prepared to wait in a line both outside and inside the restaurant. Once you get inside the door you'll need to read the posted menu offerings and be ready to place your order when you get to the front of the line. The choices can seem almost overwhelming. My friends and I split 3 items: scrambled Florentine, Nelson's Rancheros, and the French toast sampler. The egg dishes were perfectly cooked. The French toast sampler that day had banana, cinnamon, and cranberry orange breads of which the cranberry orange was the best tasting. The place may not been the most handicap accessible, as the bathroom is down a few steps outside the restaurant and and is accessed by going past the dirty dish area inside.
