It's basically generic american mexican taqueria food that isn't bad at all, but it isn't that good either.

Burritos are already extraordinarily filling; the ones here are huge, so you'd be hard-pressed to finish one, especially since it comes with nachos and some very spicy, excellent salsas. The Bajacal seems to be the less heavy, with prawns and French fries replacing rice. Usually a long line at lunchtime - not many skinny customers, though.

For a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place on Divis, El Burrito Express puts out good solid burritos, tacos, and churros.

The ambiance is not why you visit El Burrito Express: hard backed chairs, Formica topped tables, and numbers of readied orders being yelled out at top volume. Rather, the star is the down-to-earth, Mexican food like your abuela (grandmother) used to make (if she were Mexican).

The Veracruz burrito with black beans, bell peppers, avocado, red snapper, onions, tomatoes was quite good and relatively healthy. Juicy and tasty, the beef tacos were bursting with flavor. Sweet and crispy, the churro was a perfect way to end lunch. As a bonus, complimentary chips are provided.

A variety of other Mexican standards (nothing fancy here) are available: fish tacos, burritos in various forms, quesadillas; the usual. A good selection of sodas and beers can be had as well.

If you are in Lower Pac Heights and in need of a Mexican food fix, El Burrito Express is your go-to place.

This place has the biggest portions I've ever seen at a Mexican restaurant! All the food I had was very good quality but it wasn't necessarily the best that I've ever had. I had the guacamole and chips and they literary gave a whole container of guacamole that you would find in a grocery store and a large bag of corn chips, probably the equivalent to a "family size" bag. If that wasn't enough, the cheese quesadilla is huge and very filling. Adding meat and vegetables to a quesadilla is okay but ordering two quesadillas is way too much. The food came out quickly. From what I remember there was limited seating so just be aware of that. The quesadilla I had definitely had good flavor and tasted authentic, and I would return here, but I'm not in too big of a rush.

Good soft tacos and nacho dishes. Their tomato-onion salsa is killer with their fresh chips (no hot spice). Decade or so ago their chips were awful now they are great. Only big problem is that every menu change they list a pork taco and THEY NEVER HAVE IT! EVER! Cheese quesadilla is also killer deal damn get now fool.
